I know a lot of random NYR facts, but I don't remember the last time the Rangers finished a season leading the league in goals

I hated Donald Brashear not only did he stink as a hockey player, but after what he did to Betts I rooted for him(Brashear) to fail.
- tomburton99

Same here. The only way I was going to root for Brash was if he introduced his people's elbow to someone that year...and he never did. I think he got into one fight, got popped in the ribs, and never played again for the Rangers. I hated that guy. I wonder how McSorley is doing these days

speaking of Brashear, if AV was putting Blair Betts into this lineup every night he'd be getting destroyed

Looks like a $5K well spent by Krieder

I liked Betts. Good fourth liner -- worked hard, killed penalties, blocked a ton of shots.

He was pretty good in the dot, too. Betts was good for what he was...a solid 4th liner. Not sure how many more seasons he played after his departure.

McSorley is playing beer league hockey in LA ... still
As for Brashear, the thing I HATED most about him and Chris Sion was that the Rangers signed both of them to be enforcers and once they got to the Rangers they decide that instead of being enforcers they wanted to rebrand themselves as "Power Forwards" and all of sudden the amount of fights they both got in dropped by about 80%... UGGHHH!!

Chris Simon definitely fought when he was a Ranger

only played 65 games and had 225 PIMs

that whole season the only thing to look forward to was Barnaby and Simon's fights

Disagree about Simon, that 1 year (didn't even last a full year, was traded to Calgary for Betts at the deadline) he played for us he fought a lot & scored 15-20 goals. It was sad that in that 2003-04 season our best line was a 44 year old Messeir centering Simon & Matt Barnaby.

They played 6 good games that year, ALL were against the Islanders. We swept that season series & won a few games like 6-2, 6-3 against them. Odd & that Isles team made the playoffs.

I had a couple of lost Rangers years where I was in D.C., with no center ice package, and working my ass off. I think that was one of them. I barely remember Simon as a Ranger.

I always liked Sandy McCarthy during the lean years. Him and Theo played well together

He was very good for us that 3/4 a season. I liked him. Ironically just a few years later we all hated him after what he did to Hollweg.

Maybe I'm mistaking him for Sandy McCarthy's last few years with the Rangers then

There were a bunch of random Goons the Rangers had in those early 2000 years. Steve McKenna, Purinton, Dan LaCouture. The worst was when Sather signed Billy Tibbets. Guy was a punk & a convicted felon.

2003-2004? Wasn't that the season where the Rangers basically had an all-star team, at least as far as big names went -- Messier, Bure, Jagr, Kovalev (right after he tore it up for Pittsburgh), etc. I might be conflating the years, but I thought I remember that team dropping a game to Ottawa something like 7-2, which finally made me realize that it wasn't just a bad start to the season, and that they totally sucked.

The Czec line was awesome with Nedved, Dvorak, and Hlavac.

Yeah, couldn't remember who the center was, but I remember that line being pretty good for the season.
