2003-2004? Wasn't that the season where the Rangers basically had an all-star team, at least as far as big names went -- Messier, Bure, Jagr, Kovalev (right after he tore it up for Pittsburgh), etc. I might be conflating the years, but I thought I remember that team dropping a game to Ottawa something like 7-2, which finally made me realize that it wasn't just a bad start to the season, and that they totally sucked. - Pete V
I think it was the year before. They also had Holik, Anson Carter, and Mike Dunham. |

Yea that year except Bure was gone after the 02-03 season. |

I always liked Sandy McCarthy during the lean years. Him and Theo played well together - mdw7413
Sandy McCarthy was the kind of guy who looked like he had a promising career starring in Bum Fights videos after his NHL career ended. |

Holik & Kasper were signed before the 2002-03 season. Carter was acquired at that years deadline & was gone by Jan 2004 in the Jagr trade. |

The Rangers should bring him back and give him his due during a ceremony, like the Isles did for Cairns |

I feel bad for the kid, cause he seems like a really good dude. He came into the league in the wrong decade. |

Looking forward to next year's opening night.
Four of the Isles greats:
- Nystrom
- Potvin
- Trottier
- Zenon Konopka and his pet bunny |

York most of time, that was a decent line for having a goon on it |

Yup. Its why I hope he finds a spot. He is the kind of guy I could root for even though he wasn't very good and it was a horrible pick. |

IDK, some of the leagues toughest guys were said to be really good guys off the ice, Kocur, Stu Grimson. But for every one of those there were the Bob Probert's & Tony Twist's of the world who were d bags. |

you know, the 2000-2001 Rangers were a team that could score goals in bunches (three 30 goal scorers), but they were horrendous defensively and had an aging star in Mike Richter who couldn't save a beach ball
that team reminds me of this team the last couple of weeks more than anything else |

they were all bullies though, in one degree or the other. McIlrath is never a bully, all he does is stick up for teammates when they are bullied
in the era of the instigator, it's just not useful enough |

Mike York had a fantastic rookie year. Kind of went south with the scoring after that, but another guy who played 100% every shift |

I've actually heard some good things about Probert from people around here, but he had some serious demons.
If you want to talk about a world class POS off the ice, look no further than Darren McCarthy. Horrible human being.

Did York go in the Poti trade or the Bure trade? I remember not wanting him to get traded. Then the first trade happened and he was involved, and I thought he was safe, which last for about 10 minutes.

Pretty sure it was Poti. |
