My wife is from Moon Township, which is where Moon Beaver is located. So I guess I've gotten some Moon Beaver on several non-consecutive occasions.

Williams took a 2-year deal at age 34 but will insist on 4-years at age 36.

Good luck with that.

Sharp is even less likely to get a 4 year deal after his concussion problems this season. He's 35, so it would also be a 35+ contract where the cap hit remains on the books if the player retires.

Took the words from my mouth. Thank you

To add: if they want to be on a contender, not many contending teams are throwing 4 year deals at 35+ year olds with their current cap situations. Also if you're Sharp or Williams, hopping around a team or two on one year or two year deals is better suited for chasing a cup imo, as opposed to being an eventual cap casualty while contributing little on a 4 year deal.

If they're fully healthy, I'd be happy to have Sharp back on a 1 year deal, or Williams for 2. And you could bump up the cap hits to compensate for the shorter term because you know what the cap situation is until the 19-20 season when Simmonds, Raffl, TK, Provorov and Sanheim need new deals.

Giroux for Puljujarvi?
- jmatchett383

I do think the Oilers might move him but I think if they do it will be for a defenseman.

But that's not trading a veteran forward for a young forward.

Rigged? That draft lottery still makes me sick to my stomach
- aantny88

I would be sick if I was the Ducks. Remember how they lost Crosby to the Penguins right after Lemioux got them out of bankruptcy and kept them in Pittsburgh

Yeah, if they'd been able to land Crosby, they may have won a Cup post-2004 lockout.

Out of curiosity, what do you guys actually expect to get back in a Giroux deal?

I would trade Giroux if I could get a youthful center back. Two guys I like are Sam Bennett and Alex Galchenyuk.

But that 8 million cap hit is a pain

Probably not as much as one would think because of the cap hit.

I truly think the return would be very underwhelming compared to what fans/people think. I don't think the return would help with the now nearly as much as people hope or think either. Unless the deal involves us takin back a bad contract.

In regards to my earlier point, players will often take less years to play on the team they want to play on because they think they can win a cup, to better fit that teams situation. With a team like the Flyers, who by next season aren't likely going to be considered a contender, which obviously could affect their interest, the Flyers might have to overpay a player to get them to sign with them. Either in term or salary.

He probably would bring a pretty good return.

He has the perfect contract and set of skills a lot of teams need.

And I like guys like Simmonds, Voracek and Giroux. But I really think someone is going to have to move. Simmonds will eventually be getting a nice raise and added to the Giroux and voracek I don't like that. Especially with Schenn long term as well and what Provorov might get.
