Belcher nailed it, but they got it at the end of the round I think. - golfingsince
taken away then given back... I wonder what our management would prefer? the cap hit or the 30th pick? I guess it would depend where we'd be picking. |

To be honest, we probably shouldn't be spending that close to the cap over the next few years. We just aren't good enough to not have cap space. |

Nope. Sold it to a 16 year old girl. Bought myself a Lambretta Li 150 Series 3. Waiting for the winter to finish though |

You are probably right, I think half the reason to spend to the cap is marketing to show they are trying to make the playoffs so they can sell tickets.
I'd like to think JB would have a different plan with a different mandate from ownership. Which is part of the reason I am giving the guy a bit of rope (and there is no use gettign upset over sh1t I can't control).

That's fair, but it doesn't mean it isn't dumb.
Why not have cap space so you can take back salary in a deal, especially dead space at a deadline deal in order to really enhance the return from a team right up against it? |

yep. wouldn't be against that, but likely wouldn't be happy if that salary was beyond 3 years. and back to your point, you want that space for flexibility and just so the option is there. |

Teams can still try to be competitive without spending to the cap. Anaheim has had an internal cap for years. The Sens sacrifice talent for cap savings all the time and still are able to compete.
