Yes it would...very stupid idea - CanuckDon
I think it would be better for JT to go to a team as a ufa so that team doesn't have to give up assets to acquire him, putting his new team in a better spot to compete. |

If in on the JT sweepstakes its a bold move indeed.
The trade would create significant assets/picks moved & would start another furor in this blog for sure. I can hear it now....
All the draftists going ballistic
The tankers showing up here in droves
The JB haters sounding off with the old garbage posts
The rest of us chatting & discussing it inside & out - Nighthawk
Probably one of the few moves that would make this team competitive single handedly.
Horvat, Joulevi, Boeser and our first for Tavares and Hamonic. Rebuild over. |

FYI I flex/flux between trading if we get key pieces to being a draftist.
I don't see the UFA market being very strong for us to make significant moves.
The expansion draft will cause a domino effect effect for sure.
The TDL will start the ball rolling with teams making cup or PO pushes.
It will happen irregardless of LV & not stop teams. |

Boeser, OJ and Columbus 2nd for the rights to Tavaras for 3 months? seems prudent |

Cant say, but its reliable. - Bettmanhatesus
So just for poopes and giggles.
What would it take to get JT (again, assuming that NYI even wanted to move him for whatever reason).
26 years old C.
6'1, 210.
signed for 1 more year after this at a very very reasonable 5.5m before hitting UFA.
Good for 35 and 35 = 70.
Would allow the Sedin's to drop to 2nd/3rd line.
Would be an obvious replacement for Henrik as a 1C.
Would give the team a good shot in the arm offensively, plus a good marketing angle.
Would likely be bolting if not locked up for a fortune after next year.
Risky move.
would cost assets and not be a 'proper rebuild'.
What would it cost? |

You don't think they'd do it for Sutter and EG replacing Horvat and Juolevi? |

If you are going to take a run at JT wait until he is a free agent and offer him 75 % of the cap space of Hank and Dank . Why give up anything? |

i'm just going to put this here stating that within 5 mins of hank getting 1000 tonight, lefty will be in here saying congrats on the team having its first 1000 pt player (while the leafs have none).....and now benning can trade the twins. |

This is all just nonsense, but to play devil's advocate...
You give up things to get him into the fold, convince him that Vancouver rules and is a place to put down roots and get a head start on negotiating a contract, as opposed to being one of many offers when he's a free agent. |
