did anyone here call Sutter an Elite center? |

PPG doesnt dictate a good 3rd line center. He wins faceoffs, kills penalties, goes into our top 6 sometimes.... exactly what we wanted out of him... - Crazybagoham

Isn't he on pace to score 20? |

I think JB would have made the trade, regardless.
I think he won that trade myself and I see Guds as an established pro, while Traymakin still has a long ways to go (consistency).
I imagine we'll see the all too common sophmore slump with Tree next year and Guds will be in a mentoring role with him, which is a plus.
I hear your point re Ballard, but again, if he played as well as we had hoped when he was acquired, i don't think anyone would be complaining...it's b/c he stunk it up and was oft injured that the trade is looked at unfavorably. - dbot
I'm hoping it's Edler that they're shopping, personally. I wouldnt want to see any of these young d go anywhere |

JB isn't getting nearly the credit he deserves for what he's done to this blueline (going out and getting stecher, convincing tryamkin to come over). - Crazybagoham

I imagine if they're shopping anyone its Tanev, maybe Hutton.
Similar games, without trade clauses.
I wouldn't lose my poop if either were moved for the right pieces.
Also happy for them to remain on the team. |

A 3rd line C also doesn't play first line minutes and produce offense at a 3rd line level. Sutter is a fine utility player but he isn't foundational or high end at anything other than maybe faceoffs and skating fast in a straight line. |

yes.
if you're asking me.
i also am ok with Guds getting a raise next year. - dbot
if we say that gud gets 4ish; sutter, erikson and gud will be making a combined 14m.
the canucks are rebuilding and are almost up to the cap.
why? |

because mgmt is trying to ice a competitive team and create a winning environment.
We are not doing a 'rebuild' in the sense that we're not doing a tear it all down and trade everyone and play the kids rebuild that some teams do.
only like, 5 teams have a few million in capspace available, most teams are up near the top.
nothing to see here. |

HB is a funny place, I appreciate the good posts but then feel this reflex to throw a poke just to fit in.
I like your civil approach too. kill'em with kindness I guess. less traffic on the high road. but there is a party going on in the traffic jam of the low road. |

I Agree.
On paper, you'd think they'd play very similar. Seems to me, Tree has the ability to maraud around and lay the body/turnovers more. Perhaps he is better with his stick or faster with his feet. Guddy seems to play the front of the net better, probably a testament to his experience of those battles for position a bit better. Right now, Guddy looks top 4. Tree looks top 4, possibly top-2. Having two very physical d-men in the top-4 completely changes who the Canucks are in our own end, that and Bo are the best part of watching games right now IMO |

Not when they get first line ice-time. |
