because mgmt is trying to ice a competitive team and create a winning environment.
We are not doing a 'rebuild' in the sense that we're not doing a tear it all down and trade everyone and play the kids rebuild that some teams do.

only like, 5 teams have a few million in capspace available, most teams are up near the top.

nothing to see here.

- dbot

yeah and when other teams like arizona and carolina take advantage of cap strapped teams to pick up some decent pieces, we can all remember there is nothing to see here.

every move this team makes can be conveniently defended regardless of whether it's good long term or not.

nothing to see here.

Not when they get first line ice-time.
- golfingsince

actually Hank/Horvat/Sutter are pretty even these days, and rightly so.

HB is a funny place, I appreciate the good posts but then feel this reflex to throw a poke just to fit in.

I like your civil approach too. kill'em with kindness I guess. less traffic on the high road. but there is a party going on in the traffic jam of the low road.

I am not looking to Arz or Car for guidance on how to build a competitive franchise.
No two situations are identical for teams.
We are taking a different path.

every move can be critiqued as well.
it's your call.

no bigee.

Bold statement. He is just as likely to be playing in Europe. He is a 20 year old, late first round pick that hasn't accomplished anything.
- CanuckDon

What a statement to make.

By that logic any 20 year old kid not in the NHL putting up a point per game is destined to "be playing in Europe" lol.

you know you don't have to look at 1 example and try to emulate that right? you can pick and choose different tactics and devise a coherent strategy right?

or should we still be trying for the "detroit model" or the "bruins model" or is it now the "penguins model."

Sutter leads the Canucks in ice time. That is why we are calling him a 1st line player.

It doesn't make any sense to call him a high end 3rd line center when he leads his team in icetime.

Horvat for example is 3rd in icetime among regular C's 4th if you include Granlund but is on pace to lead the canucks in points. That's what a high end 3rd line C looks like.

THIS.

and until Edmonton/ Toronto have success in the playoffs/ actually win something then I'll believe it. As it stands now, they are mostly only good because they got a really good years 1OA, sick of hearing about it like it took any sort of skill or management/ drafting skill.

the 1 winner and 29 losers, who do we want to copy approach?

the constant I hope for is draft and develop.

Although I think this will now be taken as we traded for a 1st line C!
