People still complain about the Neely trade here FFS. There were a pile of people unhappy with many of his moves the day they were made. - golfingsince
I am still mad about the Ballard trade oh and Booth |

you know you don't have to look at 1 example and try to emulate that right? you can pick and choose different tactics and devise a coherent strategy right?
or should we still be trying for the "detroit model" or the "bruins model" or is it now the "penguins model." - RealityChecker
Depends on who you ask. |

My lineup was funnier...not your best work. I don't care about Sutter or Benning I do like Linden though Sutter is a fine 3 C. That's it. Not sure what your issue is with him |

Look at his linemates not his ice time. That's pretty damn simplistic He is a horse on the PK and takes our defensive faceoffs - CanuckDon
You're right it is simplistic.... that's my point you need to look a little deeper.
His most common linemates are Granlund and Eriksson, followed by the Sedins.
He is 3rd in PP icetime, 30 min more than Eriksson and 50+ more than Horvat.
He is 2nd in SH icetime behind Bo.
He takes 2% more defensive faceoffs than Bo, that equates to 40 more which I'm sure you can figure out why it is a large number and small %.
I'm not female doging about Sutter playing as much as he does but taking his production in that icetime and equating it to high end play doesn't hold any water.
He plays a lot, with good players, in favorable situations and might get 40 points this year.
And that is just points....I haven't brought up the fact that he gets his head kicked in stats that try to judge defensive worth.

no you actually don't.
but in any event, what exactly does hockey buzz fix? i'm really curious as to what you think the role of this website is? if this thread/site is not to discuss/analyze/ridicule/dissect/critique/applaud/criticize hockey (and occasionally non-hockey) issues, what is it here for? (aside from swapping kool aid recipes.) |

You were gone for awhile. I knew you were doing some research
He doesn't play with Bo and he clearly doesn't work with the Sedins. So I wouldn't say he plays with quality players that often. I don't know why he is on the PP. He doesn't belong there
Edit. Why has Golfing turned this thread into a Sutter debate. Who cares. He is a 3rd line center |

I really want to see Hansen traded. He's been one of my favourites for a long time but we need to move him at his highest value. |

I wasn't a fan of the Kassian/Prust trade...but he needed to go and had little to no value at the time.
I also did not get the Vrbata signing at the time (i didn't know anything about him, but was pleasantly surprised by his 1st season...later, not so much).
I also didn't like the Clendenning trade, but understood that JB was trying to shore up the youth on the team (similar to acquiring Vey, Sven, Granlund, Pedan, etc).
I also think he made some good moves and is not an incapable semi-retarded fool that some on here purport.
He has a plan, i can see the logic in it. - dbot
I see the plan to, build up the prospect pool starting from the goalie out. Benning wants a killer d first and foremost with great goaltending, forwards will be his last priority. |

I was reading an article today talking about Luongos contract, if he retires early, does the penalty come out of the cap space? like if he retired one year early would we need to free up 8mill? or just out of owners pockets? |

such minor moves I dont get the constant hate. People seem to forget he got stecher, tryamkin, demko, granlund, baertschi. Anyone who thinks Loui Erikson isn't helping this team simply doesnt watch the games.
But hey, JB made Eriksons contract too long.... and we lost vey..... and Virtanen is a 20 year old playing in the minors -.-
Imagine if we had Garth Snow. |

The boss walked in too.....
They funny thing is I quite like Sutter and was happy with swapping him over Bonino from day one. His contract on the other hand not as much but it isn't that big of a deal. I just think this board, not just you in particular, look at things in a vacuum.
