Lucic scored guys - TheGiftofGod
And you guys so got him on a cheap deal and for only another 20 years... |

That game was complete bullpoop.
Refs missed so many calls against Nashville. Should've been a penalty shot. Just real bad reffing in general. - TheGiftofGod
Meh. Nashville battled harder and wanted it more. As much as I hate the reffing, this wasn't a situation where the Oilers lost because of them. Take the point and move on to Calgary. |

Not the sole reason, but a part of the reason. The reffing was absolutely horrid. |

I laugh when people exaggerate like that... It's a 7 year deal, and when his contract is up, he'll be 34 |

Nuge has had a awful game. - MaximumBone
This can't be in reference to the Nashville game can it? I think it was one of his best games ever. He was everywhere...PK, PP, backchecking, steals...I really saw a lot from him tonight.
Funny how we all see different things.
I'm still very tired of Eberle's "ho hum" attitude. It's a tough one but think I'd like to see him go. |

Lowetide suggested perhaps getting Vanek at the dl to help with a playoff push. Wouldn't cost much to get him, his cap hit is reasonable, and he's the type of winger that our centers could use, especially since any sort of a playoff run would almost certainly have to involve moving Drai back to C.
Thoughts?

He's a beast. And his acquisition has done a ton to change the dynamic of the squad in a positive manner. I liked how tmac talked about how we can pretty much play ANY style of game now. And he's one of the reasons.
As far as age, totally agreed.
Yeah it woulda been nice to get him for a shorter term, but that's what it was gonna take. And there's no real solid evidence he'll be broken down in the next few years either. He's only 28. Backes plays a very similar game and just had a fantastic year last season. Which is the same age as looch'll be in year 5 of that deal. It's funny how assumptions become fact to those who are too lazy or too ignorant to bother actually doing any research,
Even if looch is abit of an anchor in the last couple years, he'll be worth it in the first 4-5. Especially if he's a part of moving this team to where it hopes to be. And he has thus far.
It's just jealousy from a fan of a team that was relegated to signing Troy Brouwer till he's 35 at only 1.5 less when looch turned em down. And there's no doubt looch is worth more than Brouwer by 1.5
Also, looch has never been a point machine. He's hit 60 twice, but his career avg is 50 per 82gp. if he can get to 50- with all of the other stuff he brings. (Which is where his value truly lies)Happily take it |

Montreal did that and it seemed to work well enough. He is a very high skilled player but he needs a heart transplant. Vanek just doesn't care, he is so frustrating to watch because at times he can change the game with one or two quick shots/moves...the rest of the time he is pretty much a passenger though. The Oilers are better because there are LESS passengers, less players like Vanek around. I'd rather go after a real workhorse who would go right through the boards if the puck was on the other side. (not sure who that would be...haha) |

He's not what he once was, but he can still score abit .
And he's the type of player that's desirable as it's just a rental, with no long term commitment beyond the end of the season.
There's a few other guys I'd pursue first, but if it didn't cost a first (which I doubt it would) I'd be interested for sure. Depth is always valuable in the playoffs |

Makes me miss Pitlick already. Young or not, his work ethic was killer and had playoff performer written all over him.
Isn't it cool to actually talk about playoffs and not be using the word as a punchline? |

Cam Talbot leads the NHL in TOI by almost 300 minutes, yet still maintains a SV% and GAA within the top half of starting goaltenders.
Mcdavid yes. Even Larsson yes. Both guys have been big contributors to the turn around, but Talbot deserves a metric (frank)ton of props. His workload and response have been unreal.
If you work out the numbers to goalies that have logged at least 2000 minutes, he's amongst the very best. |

Agreed... And if he doesn't hit 50, he'll have to answer to Harrison Katz -- trust me, he doesn't want to have to do that. |

It's a (frank)ing joke that Smith made the all-star team over Talbot. |

I am black in this particular game. What do you think my next push should be? Try to take the rest of Asia or sojourn into South America? |

You should just protest until people give you hand outs then. |
