Coming off a groin injury that kept him out 2+ months? Slow down on him. Did we all forget that Pominville was like 24 before playing on the Sabres (and making a difference)?

I am not saying the two players are the same, but you can't just write off a guy at 21 years old. Not every player that explodes in the NHL under 21 years old continues to be good and some players take time. How about Vesey? Dude was crushing in first month or so. Not so much anymore (as someone pointed out, same point output as Gionta currently) and dude is 23? Just slow down with judging these prospects. It's not like he was a top 10 draft pick.

Unfortunately this is a place of what have you done for me today. The long view is rarely looked upon, as unfair as it usually is.

I know there has been a comment or two about who best fits the 3rd line and who best fits the 4th line, for example.

The sooner everyone gets away from the old, antiquated guidelines for what 3rd and 4th lines should be regarding composition and usage, the faster the team will be in terms of getting close to being a cup contender.

The way the game is, you want all 4 lines to drive play as much as possible and you don't want any line, even the 4th line, to be one that you just put out there to give the top 3 lines a rest.

That methodology doesn't work anymore.

I can understand that, but you can't say drafting at 21 (instead of Lehner) would be what have you done for me today, cause dude is not even in the NHL and then rag on a guy playing ok in the AHL. (not saying it was you, but some people on this board). It takes time to get prospects up to speed, and those times vary with the player.

Are we all going nuts over what Cliff Pu? No, because it might not translate and he is a few years away. Dude is scoring tons, TODAY! Every player develops different. Yes, we all want top 10 talent throughout the lineup, but top 10 picks are rarely traded.

It seems like many teams don't think this way, unfortunately.

It doesn't help that the game overall is still much slower and not as free flowing as it should be.
