You don't have to trade. I guess you can have them sitting in the press box - VANTEL
i'd like to see one or both of Tanev/ Edler traded for a top 6 player plus a legit D prospect each.

More importantly though, they haven't been drafting their D with their first rounders for the most part. - belcherbd
Thanks for this |

I've said many times its Edler. I like him but time to force him to move on & get some scoring up front. |

I don't see the point in moving Hutton, we still don't know what he is. He won't fetch much of a return and might still be our best D prospect.
If we are going to move players, it should be guys who their value is known to league. Sutter, Tanev, Sbisa, Edler, Eriksson, Gudbranson, Burrows, Hansen, Miller and Markstrom should be the only players being considered IMO.
I'm not sure what you think the value of Hutton is but my guess would be similar to what Colorado payed for Gelinas, a 3rd round pick. - belcherbd
That seems reasonable. I don't think JB's list is close to being that long either. |

David Poile did it in Washington also. The man knows his D men. |

He's got the most value but they haven't developed a 1D to replace him yet. |

Nashville is proof of loading up on D. That Johansen/Jones trade is what can happen when you have a loaded backend. One Dman goes and they don't miss a beat. - Kaynine
Didn't they just pick up or trade for a 6/7 defenseman because of depth and quality issues. |

Yup, Stevens was the gift that kept giving. Replaced him with Gonchar and Witt. |

I don't agree with that either.
I hope Juolevi is NHL ready sooner than 3 seasons away.
Got to draft a forward with first pick. Centre for sure. Big and skilled. |

I'd go BPA.
Last time we went for a big and skilled forward specifically.........JV. |

Maybe. But Tanev is easier to move for value. Plus Edler leaves a hole in helping to develop the younger D. OJ and Tree best chance now to replace him with his mentoring. Ohland did it for Hedman etc. Can't lay the vet leadership transition on still young Guddy now. |

No matter what people think, we aren't a deep prospect pool. Therefore, I think the answer for the foreseeable future is BPA. |

Keep it simple, draft the player who produces the most offense regardless of origin and size. |
