They did.
Stripes mentioned that Pegula wanted the Jr. Sabres in that league. The only way I see that happening is if they start a new league with teams on the East Coast. All the USHL teams are in the midwest. I can't imagine travel would be easy to schedule.

Yeah other than the national development team in Michigan all the other teams are in the mid west.
The only way I could see them expanding anytime soon is if they partner up with NHL teams but then I think that could be a conflict of interest.
The OHL makes the most sense for the Junior Sabres but they would have to play at the arena and not the Harbor Center. Which is pointless IMO
