Not a sure thing. But looks as if he might. - Wetbandit1
Figured a bunch would take the 2 gamers and I took a ton of the 3 gamers . He was worth the risk after reading the reports . |

Gawd no...some of the Sabres posters are among the most realistic on Hockeybuzz...Cabin, for example, is a very intelligent poster...but you got a few real winners as well, Garth, for example. - Larsson_fan
Garth has his own special corner. Please don't lump him in with us. Although you do have to kind of admire his optimism. If not his love of puns. |

I went Atkinson instead. He's guaranteed 2 games, well as long as he doesn't get hurt, wheras Laine might play 2 games. If it was for sure, absolutely would've taken him, and if it was a knee or a shoulder or something I probably would've, but it being a concussion and seeing the hit live and his head bouncing off the ice, this seems fast to come back. |

They statistically have about the same chance sure, but when you actually look at the teams it's easy to see that Detroit is in free fall, as are the Islanders; their fall is a bit shorter though. The Sabres are on the way up. And should, hopefully, please God, continue to improve. I'm not saying they're way better, but they are better. - Wetbandit1
The Islanders are an odd one...not saying they are great, but they should be better than they are...still...gave up a lot in the summer and replaced them with dog poop. |

I was told he doesn't want to move McCabe and getting Duchene puts us in a bad spot with to many centers. The defense doesn't need a complete overhaul just need to add a couple parts.
Murray wants to make the playoffs and once his attitude turns to " need " that could be a problem. You start to make deals just to make deals and we can't afford to keep making deals just to make them. If there is deal to be made that works and helps but doesn't put this team in a bad spot we should do it other then that, we should hold off for now. - SABRES 89
Yeah, his public goal for this season was the last playoff spot. Doesn't seem like a guy who's under too much pressure. |

And that's why I'd put the Sabres ahead of them, again, it's not light years, but if I was betting, I'd bet on the Sabres. And I hate betting on the home team. I think I picked against the Bills, in a straight up matchup, 11 times this year. |

I definitely agree. I personally have no clue why we'd be pursuing Duchene. He's a good player but certainly no where on, at least my idea of a priority list. - TheSabresTaco
Same, but if it's an ROR situation where they're definitely moving him, you have to take a shot if you can. He's played a lot of wing in the league. He started out there if I remember correctly. FatMarsh, you lurking? |

am thinkin that the only players he'd move, other than the Moulson-types, are Franson, kuli, and maybe ennis...any word on those three? |

Very true. Hope we can get one, cause I like Montour as well as others that are on their low end. - Lilroot9
Is it sad that their 3rd in line to get called up is probably on our top 4 day one? |

Im just kinda perplexed as to why GMTM wants the playoffs more than a lottery pick? I know losing year after year sucks...but the 10 player core of your team, developed or undeveloped, that may contend for a Cup one day just isnt there. Ive asked this before , who on tne team or in the system round out the 2 scoring C, 1 checking C, 3 scoring Wings, top 3 D and goalie?
I think your set at Center, but need a high quality Winger if not 2 and a top pair D and a goalie. |

Good thing you got Rejjie and Looch locked up for the rest of their careers. Those contracts are going to be sweet in a year. |

That is pretty sad, but I don't know if that makes them more of a defensive team, cause I don't really want that, lol |

2 scoring c--Eichel, o'reilly
3 scoring wings--okoposo, Nylander (projected,) kane
3 top d--risto, guhle (projected,) McCabe
goalie--doesn't matter as you won't waste a lottery pick on a goalie |

Franson and Kulikov shouldn't be hard to move Ennis on the other hand will be. Ennis had interest before he got hurt. |

Kuli, Franson, Gio and McCormick are all gone and off the books next year. Perhaps Gio would be back, but I would suspect it would be for considerably less $$$.
Cap Central on the Buzz has us 4m under (not sure if we're closer to the cap due to callups), take that: add in 3.325 for Frans, 4.33 for Kuli and 4.25 for Gio and 1.5 for McCormick we would have 17M roughly to play with.
Lehner gets a couple more mil (down to 15), but Larsson, Foligno and Zemgus should all make right around what they're making now with small raises. Even if they all get an extra million dollars a piece, we would have around 12M to my count (two Okposo's). We need to save some for Jack and Samson in two years but Expansion should up the cap as is and Gorges will go by then for 3.9 more.
Are we that bad off? - RhinoFan
Agreed
And neither Jack nor Sam are gonna get a Stamkos-like contract this time
I'd guess something like 5-6mil per season bridge deals...
look at the Kucherov deal
Jack's would likely be a little bigger than Sam's |

No, but IMO we aren't a match with the AVS, they want a NHL ready D man and we aren't moving Risto or McCabe. I'd go for Landy over Duchene IMO. The Ducks are just loaded with D men but they have a " team cap " and don't think they want to take on a lot of money unless they move money out. - SABRES 89
I'd trade them Kane at 50% retained for Lindholm
and they still would say no |
