With Josi out he's probably paired with Subban but he fits normally with Ellis in the 2nd pairing, would be my guess. I would think one of our 2nds in 2017 and Fasching. Knowing how careful Nashville is with the cap I would think we would have to retain some of Kane's salary, maybe 50%. - mhp
Ekholm would be a top guy. Usually it is him and Subban with Ellis and Josi on the second line. |

Thanks for the clarification. Do you think a 2nd and a top prospect along with Kane and we retain half on his salary is a fair starting point? |

My apologies to you for our recent dust up regarding Lehner in that Winnipeg game. It got personal and I hate that stuff. - mhp

I honestly have no idea. Larson pulled Taylor Hall so my opinion on what a Top Defensmen is worth is out the window after that.
Edit: We have also been spoiled with good defenemen in Nashville (Suter, Weber, Josi, Ellis, Ekholm) so I also think I take for granted the value |

Greatest site in the history for fantasy hockey folks, and its not even close. Here's what the Preds lines and D pairing look like these days:

smug much?
Sorry, but I had to.
Nobody is saying that the advanced stats don't mean anything. They just don't mean everything either. They aren't the be all/end all like you try to make them out to be much of the time.
EDIT: On a side note, this place wouldn't be quite as entertaining if we all had the same viewpoint on everything. So carry on... - HonkFortheGoose
They never are the end all be all.
Just another layer.
Jack Eichel has a negative Corsi. I have never brought it up because I don't think for him, it's all that relative, because it's just one facet he struggles in (for now)
He's elite in other categories like shots per game, and frankly, he's Jack Eichel. |

I get it. You don't need to try and explain them to me. I'm just pointing out that you get stuck on them a lot of the time and act like they're all that matters. I'm not saying you actually believe that, but much of the time it's how it seems to come off. (It could also just be me, but with the way certain other posters react when you post them, I doubt it.)
You and I don't always see eye to eye on stuff, but typically we tend to be able to have decent discussions. So like I said, carry on. It would be boring around here if we didn't all have some sort of differing opinion. |

I think we just got Ekholm for Kane (salary retained), Fasching and a second. |

5 division rivals play tonight (one doesn't count, Montreal isn't a realistic team to target for catching, not that Ottawa is too realistic either - they play tonight - but Montreal is obviously way too far ahead).
Of those 4, 2 play head to head (Detroit/Boston), while Ottawa plays Washington (hopefully a Caps win) and Tampa plays Chicago.
Regulation losses by Tampa and Detroit and a win for Buffalo has the Sabres leaping over both of them teams, but remaining 5 back of Boston.
Would we rather Detroit win and Boston remain stagnant in points? That sounds better to me. |

But i suspect thats because the preds are so deep on defence. On most teams he'd probably be penciled in as the #2 guy. Im all for going after him i just think given what the cost of defencemen has been lately that getting him will cost a lot more than we think.
ducks wanted 8th for fowler and Oilers had to move Hall for Larsson. |

Boston is in a free fall right now. I will make a Gerbe level wager that we finish the season ahead of them.
PS - we're five points back with 4 games in hand. Stash, I may have misunderstood your post, but if Detroit wins and we win, we're only 3 points back of BOS, with 4 games still in hand. |

At this point, with the amount of games in hand we have on Boston, I'd rather Boston win. Detroit is too close to us. Them getting points today wouldn't be as helpful, IMO. |
