We'll know sooner than later. Getting rid of him commits to a rebuild. Keeping a GM who just built the team so that he can rebuild it doesn't seem to make sense to me. The fact that Whaley is still here makes me think that Tyrod stays and they think he's good enough to build around.

I dunno what to tell you, Im pretty sure he's wrong. The finnish article said that he postponed his obligation for 2 years I believe he meant that as in he'll do it in 2 years time ( i guess summer of 2018) - Sabresfan-365
Maatta isn't that good to begin with and isn't the player we need, so it matters none really.

His tragectory has been myers like. He had a great year. one year.
Id take him here, i just wouldn't overpay for him. - Sabresfan-365
He also seems to have a really hard time staying healthy. I had him in my dynasty league. Finally dropped him after holding onto him on IR for what felt like the last 2 years. Then when he finally was healthy for a decent stretch he didn't really do much of anything.

We don't need Maatta I can tell you that, way better options out there. - SABRES 89
I agree. I don't see GMTM breaking the bank for any of those players mentioned in trades. I think he'll stay the course and see how it plays out here barring an injury.

Is it? Seems there's 5 real teams and then 11 fringe teams that can't stop tripping over their Richards. - Zschalberg
Yes. Without a doubt it is.
East Teams record vs West aggregated - 145 wins, 89 losses, 36 OTL
West Teams record vs East Aggregated - 125 wins, 117 losses, 28 OTL
points for the above
East 326
West 278
There are 9 Eastern teams with winning record against the west. 1 even. 6 with a losing record.
There are only 4 Western teams with a winning record against the East. 1 even. 9 with a losing record.
Interconference play is getting pretty heavily dominated by the East. That to me is the strongest indicator.
But if you go through a number of other stats, you'll see the West has fallen WAY behind the East. The tables have completely turned. buffalo would probably be a playoff team in the West, with all of those easier games.

Interesting interview with Cal Petersen. Follow at the 13:53 mark when they ask him about his future in Buffalo. Also at the 19:00 mark when Kris Baker gives his thoughts on signing Petersen.

To put this in perspective, that's a .603 pts% for all Eastern teams vs Western teams. A .515 for Western teams.
to put that in perspective, that's 48 points if they had 47 games played. The Western Conference has a lower points percentage against the East than Buffalo has overall.
If they were a team, they'd be last overall in the EAst.
