I appreciate this sentiment. However at this stage we need to stop using making playoffs(or squeaking in) as the measurement of success. We're setting ourselves up for disappointment. What we need to root for is player growth and consistency. If playoffs work out, cool. - Buffalo--Sabres
this is a good post, and going back to what Brodie posted last page, we've seen this movie before and it's disappointing...
i'm a glass-half-full kinda guy so I always seem to find a positives...
that said, to your point above, i'm seeing a lot of positives with player growth in players like skunk and gus and even eichel and more consistency from the likes of o'reilly and okposo...other players have gotten better while few, if any, have taken a step back...
and i'll even go as far to say that bylsma has shown growth as well...
interested in what y'all are seeing player-wise in those areas |

Winning helps players grow, too. Overcoming obstacles helps chemistry as well. Player growth is the long game, and that shouldn't be stopped, the short game is playing well this year and using that to help the long game. By no means should we start sacrificing the future for today and I haven't seen that being said, but the secondary goal of playoffs is a good one IMO. |

Still a long way off from a Bylsma fan, but I haven't seen any parked busses in a couple weeks, never thought about that until now.
Girgs has taken a big step back to form recently, I'd like to see him stay despite calling for a trade over the summer.
Skunk stinks...in the best type of way.
I didn't notice Kulikov much yesterday which was good. Thought he was solid.
Lehner (despite having a good game sandwiched in between a couple bad ones) hasn't had any long term injuries this year and to me looks to be getting more comfortable in the net.
Things are looking up, we still may not make the playoffs, but I agree that's what the goal should still be and it is attainable. |

It's a great day to be alive, it's a great day to be a Sabres fan. The epic run to the playoffs started last night.
Gotta make sure the above doesn't get lost in the archives. You're welcome Hockey Buzz

Kane, this year's 1st, Fasching, Borgen/Fitz and one hell of a firm handshake. |

I have big unresolved questions about Lehner. The brain fart softies and the rebound control are problematic.
But this morning, Craig Rivet says he LOVES what he is seeing from Lehner, while acknowledging that he still has more to learn, and Rivet claims Lehner will be a well established number 1 by next year. What Craig Rivet knows about goaltending I have no idea - but he was in and around #1 NHLers for a long time. |

3 points in 8 games in the AHL this year. Wonder how much he's worth now that he's been injured for a while. |

They want an NHL ready young D man that we don't have so, Reinhart would have to be included. |
