You can find Jake McCabe's in this league. You cannot find lightning fast 30 goal scorers like Duchene easily.

Pretty sure none of them measure up in your opinion to who McCabe can be

This Kane, yes. The real Kane, no.

There is about 6 or 7 years of the other Kane, to maybe 1 and a half years of this Kane, for his career.

I don't disagree but mccabe is 1.6 mil on the cap. For a 2nd pairing guy, thats what you want as a contender. it's great value and if you've got a top pair ahead of him he looks even better for it.

We're better with Duchene, there's no question. But it's nothing compared to how much better we would be if we had another game changer on defence.

No need to panic just because a guy like Duchene might be on the block, good player just doesn't fit with us as of now. We have other needs and we already spent big money on ROR and Okposo, gotta pay 23 and 15.

Thanks. Found it on a site called sportingcharts.com and looked no further than the first player on there. Brent Burns with 103 giveaways in 50 games. Players that have the puck more are more likely to give it away--I'll crawl back into my hole now...

It's very tempting, but they need to fight that temptation. You could pull out 5 random regular and advanced stats that this team is bad at and there's a strong case to be made that the root of that problem starts and ends with a weak blueline.

They've got the assets to make one more big move, one that will likely take a bite out of the system (i.e get it ranked somewhere 25-30 on hockeysfuture if it was still around) and that move needs to be for a d-man imo.

Kane-Girgensons-Gionta is better than Foligno-Larsson-Gionta

It does at some point. However adding Duchene allows for another move.

It all depends on this teams window for a cup with the current core.

If Colorado are seriously starting over, maybe Nylander is attractive.

I think this team could be buyers and sellers at teh deadline.
Bring in a guy like Duchene.
Sell guys like Fransons, Gionta, Gorges, Girgensons.

Not in a hurry at all. If we didn't get Duchene, or even tried, no biggie.

But my original point was disputing that he shouldn't be excluded from trying to make this team better.

I think we all agree at the very least we will need another big piece to become a serious contender.

Came oh-so-close to tying it last night. 2 out of three of the offensive zone penalties were garbage. Moulson's "hooking" penalty was especially suspect. Everytime we had o-zone pressure it seemed like it resulted in a penalty. Would have been nice to get a point, but it's not all bad.

Rest, regroup and get ready for the post all-star break push. I'm not ready to call the Sabres sellers yet
