aside from the hit, mccabe has been blah this year
I would be fine giving them mccabe, foligno and a second for him - homiedclown
We would be the pre-mcdavid Oilers. All forwards, no D. Solid LHD is way more important to this team than 20 goals |

kane has been playing lights out
why are we trading him now?
CRAZY - homiedclown
Because he had value for the first time in a while right now, and I doubt this team commits to him with Okposo, ROR, and soon to be 23 and 15 locked up long term.
It's the same reason the Leafs will eventually trade JVR |

If you can get Duchene for him, I do that all day long. - ImThatGuy
duchene is 1 1/2 years older, only scored 1 more goal than kane this year despite playing more
kane is fine as an anchor for that 3rd line
I am ok getting duchene to be a winger with Jack, but would like him to be an addition to the team w/o parting with kane
we have picks, prospects to get it done w/o moving kane and I am ok with mccabe being one of those pieces moved |

Despite what you think of McCabe, i don't think anyone would argue that the defense would be better off without McCabe. Trading for the winger du jour while depleting the D ranks seems like a panic move |

not sure I see what makes duchene that much better than Kane
kane is a better pk player, better wheels, more physical
I'd rather have Kane on this team in late April

this team has not won a playoff series in 10 years
it's time they have a sense of panic |

That's completely unrelated to player personnel decisions made now. Trade McCabe for a winger and you'll score 20 more goals, and probably let in 20 more goals. I sincerely hope GMTM doesn't make moves based on a sense of panic that we haven't been in the playoffs since 2011 |

I don't know about better. Both are incredibly fast. Duchene is one of the best skater in the NHL.
Duchene is a career .76 PPG who misses less time than the .60 PPG Kane, with no off ice issues.
You also are buying another year of Duchene before his contract is up |

I think losing Kane at this point would set the team back. |

Put it this way, Duchene will cost Reinhart and McCabe. Now lets see if we make that deal where this team is next year at this time and people here will be going crazy when we are no better. We have average D and below average goal tending. I like Duchene however we need to be careful what we trade and how much money we take back.
Kane will never get any respect on this blog no matter what and it's a shame. |

I wouldn't trade Reinhart for Duchene straight up. The kid gets better and better and we have him on cost control for another year, then possibly a bridge deal. |

He's earning it from me. I was a big critic of the off ice issues and a bigger critic that he was not playing near his potential early in the season. He's exceeding expectations now. |

"Bat poop" price for Duchene.
Some of you can't let the Lehner trade go for a single 1st round pick. This place would go (frank)ing bonkers over Duchene. |

I actually wouldn't be surprised if he did sign one.
He will be 22 going on 23 the summer he needs a deal. Unless he blows up into a 70 point guy, he won't get more than 5 or 6 per on a long term.
Might want to bet on himself for 2 years, then cash in |

Once again that's what I keep saying, you won't get Duchene for cheap not a chance. We don't have the pieces we can trade for him. Best to wait it out and see what happens moving forward. We need to get 23 and 15 signed and we need another LHD and also to tweak the D.
3 players will be very lucky to move,
Moulson
Bogo
Ennis
if we can move just 1 of them, Murray will have to sweeten the deal to make it happen. We will be very lucky to move 2 out of the 3. |

I think a bridge deal would benefit both sides. Reinhart gets to up his stats before cashing in big time. I see his stats increasing for the next 3 years slowly. He can prove he deserves the big one, while not selling his potential short.
Eichel, no. Eichel gets the big boy max deal |

Murray should be fired if he pays Reinhart 6 mill a year, he's not close to that. |

This Duchene talk needs to stop.
He scored 70 points 3 years ago, other than that he is a 55-60 point player.
He scored 30 goals ONCE in his career. He is a good player no doubt but the trades being suggested here for him are insane.
He isn't a sniper, he is an all around good player, not a great player. He is another ROR at this point.
A good but not great player. Doesn't do that one thing that is great, he is just an all around good hockey player.
Get a sniper, get a Phil Kessel type. |

On pace for 51 points.
50 point players that young get paid that amount these days |

I suspect a bridge deal is coming, but i could also see Murray offering him 8 years $40 mil. If he wants the long term, he won't get more than $5.
I bet they settle on 2 years, 9 mil or something |
