William Nylander
for
Jake McCabe
2017 2nd round pick (Minnesota)
2018 2nd round pick
Justin Bailey
Who wins this trade? Just for fun. - bluengold12
For fun I'd say it would be interesting to see if Nylander could reach his full potential. Having both brothers play together could be a lot of fun as well.
In reality though, we're giving up too much here. Jake McCabe is very solid defender on the rise, Bailey is a good 3rd liner and 2nds can still produce high end players. You could end up giving up a top4 D, Top9 winger and two very solid prospects. While I think you're on the right track as far as taking a prospect and adding a pick to get a better quality player...we can't really afford the loss of a single defender right now as mentioned above. |

Initial reaction is pretty fair, but I'm a big believer in whoever gets the best player wins the trade. That said I'd rather spend some picks and prospects on a real quality LHD |

This probably makes more sense for the team. Still think is an overpayment, but may be overvaluing players in the Blue/Gold. I see a top6 forward, 3rd line center and two solid prospects for a guy who could potentially jump ship pretty quickly. This is better than trading Nylander by far though. He will be special. |

We wouldn't be trading Nylander. We'd be getting his brother in my scenario. |

Oh no I got that, wasn't comparing that. I heard the rumor over the summer that it was Fowler for #8 (Nylander). That was all. I love the idea of getting his brother. I just don't think McCabe is a piece we can stand to lose. |

Yeah as soon as I typed that I had some regret. Still think we need a top pair LHD somehow though |

Canadiens acquire defenseman Nikita Nesterov from Tampa, in return for defenseman Jonathan Racine and a 6th round pick in 2017.
I would have taken a flier on Nesterov |

He'd never see time over gorges though. If that was even in the realm of possibility Guhle would already be here.

i know he's a great leader and all that but unless there's another team headed for a sabres esque tank its likely the only way he ends up off the team is via buyout. |

Tampa just needed to clear a roster spot. Nesterov was their 7th D, although thats some kind of stat line from racine lol

Flyers up 1-0 on the Leafs. That game cannot go to OT one way or the other.

Young D are worth more than young skilled wingers, and take longer to develop, McCabe is being horribly undervalued , thats not a fan, thats just reality in todays fast NHL |

Dream scenario would be to be in a position for the Panthers to give us Jags and like it. Jags and Eichel. Let's see it. Advanced stats guys would have to use a log scale graph to chart them. |

I here what you're saying, but I would rather see a fast tempo game where are stars play like stars and we get decent goaltending showing growth, than look like crap and get a lucky win or whatever other teams are doing in the pts race.
My first priority is the growth and development of our team, including our Young Core of Eichel-Reinhart-Risto-McCabe-Gergensons-Foligno and leadership and great play from ROR-Ockposo-Kane-Ennis-Foligno in a system that takes advantage of our team's skill positions, basically Play to your strength.
Priority 1 = Eichel/Reinhart shine
Priority 2 = ROR/Ockposo Lead by Ex
Priority 3 = Goalie Assessment
Priority 4 = Playoffs |
