I didnt watch so i can't really comment on that but the shot chart i read basically explains we got skull (frank)ed for about 2/3 of that game. Not an encouraging sign.

Dallas seemed to have a game plan that involved shooting from the outside. Apologize if my memory is incorrect but I believe they had 63 shot attempts by the end of the 2nd. Half of those were blocked.

We still got franked for over half the game, but maybe not as bad as the shots would suggest.

Certainly wasn't good.

I usually DVR them so can skip through the filler so these West Coast games are killing my strategy too.

Close 1st period withs shots in their favor due to PP.
Second dominated by Dallas, again, a lot of penalty killing and Dallas did a lot of cycling in our zone and shot the kitchen sink at the net.
In the third it was maybe one of the top two periods they played all year. Dallas was waiving a white flag the entire 3rd.

The refs were acting like Buffalo were playing Montreal in Montreal. Shaky calls, one goal by Dallas that was probably offside and two definite Buffalo goals disallowed.

This is correct.
Dumb penalties and bad calls by refs who were obviously against us

Its more likely hes getting them to play more conservative to avoid getting shelled on the scoreboard.

Its riskier to open things up, this way when he loses he loses small or close score wise.

This team has proven that this way of thinking is all wrong. When the Sabres play what Eichel calls "North hockey" (as they did last night in the first half of the first period and in the third period) they outscore their opponents because North Hockey actually drives possession, and focuses on the most talented aspect of the team - its top 6 and to a surprising rate of success the Gionta line. When they play more conservatively, they surrender possession and allow the opponent to focus on the weakest aspect of the team - the defense.

Playing conservatively actually exposes our greatest weakness, rather than taking advantage of our greatest strength.

And that's dumb.

I remember when they scored 10 on the Oilers back in like 2009. Stafford had a hat trick
