An obvious omission by the selection committee here, Malkin is one of the best to ever lace em up in the NHL. |

I don't know about one of the best ever, but definitely one of the top 100; while multiple people who made it over him are not. |

Iginla not in the top 100? Toews, Keith, Kaner(gag) on but Iggy no? Mike Gartner is in the top 100 ffs—"Despite his long impressive career, Gartner never won the Stanley Cup or played in the Cup Finals, never won an NHL award, and was never named to the postseason All-Star Team, being one of the few NHL players with this distinction to be inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame."
Iginla has never won the cup(with better video technology this might have been overturned) but he played in the finals. He's won a scoring championship, led the league in goals twice, won the Lester B Pearson, and should have won the Hart but was robbed by a french Canadian voter who inexplicably left him off the ballot. He was the heart of the Flames franchise for many years.
It's hard to take this stupid list seriously. For all intents and purposes, what's the point anyway?
BTW the current Chicago three on the dossier do NOT deserve to be there over Evgeni Malkin. Stupid list from a bunch of self congratulating "Hockey Minds."

I saw some dude on twitter justify Toews being on there, by using +/- as his defense

Malkin snubbed but we all know he should be there. Toews is good but only half as good as Malkin. Malkin does not have that outgoing personality and take a hit for it. I have always loved Malkin and if he was Canadian he would be in the top 50. Allstar weekend sucks and the politics in the nhl and sports broadcasters is pathetic/ |

So they win more when one of their top 6 forwards scores. What a surprise. |

Larry Murphy: IIRC is 2nd in games played all time for a defenseman, 5th in points, won FOUR Stanley Cups, and was pivotal in winning a Canada Cup, and a first ballot hall of famer...tell me how a guy like Duncan Keith is on here ahead of him? |

@Mr. Fun Facts: yeah you can certainly make that argument, but Ovechkin's legendary goal scoring abilities transcends the quantity of individual awards. He's the best pure goal scorer of all time and thus should be in on that list over Geno.
I will say this though: Malkin should have been a consensus inclusion. Complete dunce move to leave him off in light of some of the people that made it. I'm young and din't see a lot of these guys play, but there are some guys on there that are contemporaries that I know for a fact Malkin is better than. Toews and Keith to name two. The Thornton exclusion is also, in my opinion, completely egregious. This is just another example of talking heads confusing team success for individual success. The point of lists like these is to celebrate individual skill and talent, not to rehash who the major pieces of dynasties were. I mean, who in their right mind would take Duncan Keith in his prime over Zdeno Chara in his prime? A Blackhawks fan and that's literally it. |
