I posted this in the latest Flame blog comments earlier:

Iginla not in the top 100? Toews, Keith, Kaner(gag) on but Iggy no? Mike Gartner is in the top 100 ffs—"Despite his long impressive career, Gartner never won the Stanley Cup or played in the Cup Finals, never won an NHL award, and was never named to the postseason All-Star Team, being one of the few NHL players with this distinction to be inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame."

Iginla has never won the cup(with better video technology this might have been overturned) but he played in the finals. He's won a scoring championship, led the league in goals twice, won the Lester B Pearson, and should have won the Hart but was robbed by a french Canadian voter who inexplicably left him off the ballot. He was the heart of the Flames franchise for many years.

It's hard to take this stupid list seriously. For all intents and purposes, what's the point anyway?

BTW the current Chicago three on the dossier do NOT deserve to be there over Evgeni Malkin. Stupid list from a bunch of self congratulating "Hockey Minds."

Everything you said here is true. Hockey is one of the most team oriented games in existence. No individual talent can will their team to a Cup the same way an absurd QB can put the team on his back and win a Super Bowl or a super star can single handily win an NBA title. Its what makes hockey special. So to count rings when deciding the best players of all time in hockey is outrageous. Toews did not win a SC on his own. He had an outrageously well built team behind him. Thornton and Iginla haven't won a SC, but that doesn't mean they aren't two of the greatest players to ever lace them up. Their teams just haven't been up to snuff.

Never understood the lovefest with toews. People say they would start a team with him over Crosby and that's a joke. Sure he has 3 cups but the team was stacked if he was in Arizona no one would care he'd be a good 2 way player with 50 60 points. Malkin is definalty a better player and to be honest I don't think Duncan Keith should be on that list over Chara

Just look at OEL. Top 5 defenseman in the league that no one ever remembers exists.

Isn't it interesting that the first names that come to your mind are no talent hacks who had no business ever suiting up in an NHL game.

I'm not sure he would be a 50-60pt scorer in a place like Arizona. If he tops out at 70-75 on a stacked Chicago team I'd imagine there would be at least a 30% drop because of the difference in talent around him. I think 50-55pts would be the ceiling.

He's only topped 70 points once. I mean he's a great 2 way player and at face offs but this whole he's the best player in the league is ridiculous. I honestly feel like Kane is the best player on that team but he's not captain serious so idk. Obviously as an islander fan I love jt but if I were starting a team and had to pick I'd have to take sid or mcdavid. Jt has turned it on of late and can win a game by himself but he has to do it 82 games. Would be nice if he had some support on the team too
