is Patrick Wiercioch a top 4 d man? - homiedclown
Others would have to answer, I'm not much of a league-watcher other than stat sheets. |

Canes or Ducks.
I'd rather go for Justin Faulk - sbroads24
Why would he be available?
And I'd think he'd cost a bit more than Manson
These guys like Fowler, etc are good players for sure...
but are they the "right fit" to pair with Risto?
I want a "stay at home" type so Risto can use his skating ability more
Not that I'd turn a guy like Faulk (or whoever away)...
it's just important that if we give up A LOT for a guy like that,
That he can be that guy who fits well with Risto |

neither of these guys are hard to get rid of. Bogosian is tradeable my bet is that Murray's asking the kind of price you'd ask if you were moving a top 4 guy rather than just moving on from someone. Gorges is a buyout candidate. temporary hit for 2 years but if it means freeing up a spot for a significant upgrade you do it. - Sabresfan-365
I know it could easily be considered penny wise but pound foolish to not buyout Gorges but I would keep him as the 6th/7th D man for his final year and save the dead money that would be on their cap for the following season as I think he'd be fine in that position.
Agreed on what Murray is asking for regarding Bogosian, but I have a strong feeling that price will come down as Murray does want to move on from him. |

I'm more in the camp of wanting another top end righty so they can roll Risto and that player on the right side on the top 2 pairs while having McCabe and potentially Guhle, or maybe a bargain basement guy like Seidenberg, on the left. |

I think so but he has been wishy washy regarding that desire. |

Canes have guys like Slavin and Hanifin ahead on the depth chart over Faulk, plus guys like Fluery and Pesce too. They could move Faulk for a good forward |

Well we lost the lotto so we couldn't get Ekblad
We almost had to go with a Center at that spot though |

Leon is the best player in that draft right now. Followed by Ekblad and Ehlers.
Reinhart is developing nicely though |

Trouba has been great this year, and I think he still wants to be traded.
They should have moved Buff and given the keys to Trouba last year. - sbroads24
That's who I would target (Trouba).
I'd hope the price isn't crazy insane and bank on the fact that he still wants out.
He and Ristolainen anchoring the top 2 pairs would be very good. |

Could be just me but I don't care if Reinhart isn't the best player from the draft right now or in the future.
I only care if he helps the team win and continues to develop as a player while doing so. |

He said a RHD though
So even if we could do a Kane for Faulk like trade...
that puts Faulk on pair 2
Which is fine I guess...
but then can we move Bogosian + (Ennis, Girgs, whoever?) for a LH guy that can play in the top4?
Ppl on here are expecting WAY TOO MUCH from Guhle imo
He might end up being the guy everyone thinks he can be
And I do like him
But even if he makes the team next year
Which is NOT a lock imo
He's a young defenseman who will most likely struggle at times & be fairly inconsistent from game to game
That's not a guy I want in my top4 if I'm trying to win a playoff series or 2 |

Even if having a 4 mil guy as your 7th d is okay, they'd never do that. So long as hes around he'll get ice time from players who deserve it more because "veteran presence". We've had something like 11 d-men play for the sabres this year and gorges might be the 9th best of that group. |

Player x-Risto
McCabe-Faulk
Guhle-Fedun
Is not unreasonable. The guy you put with risto doesnt have to be a top pairing guy, just has to be a shot suppressing defensive guy to help with some of risto's short comings. |

Draisaitl is benefiting greatly by playing on the wing with mcdavid
Not that he isn't good
But we made the right pick at the time
No question
I do like Ehlers a lot though
Pretty sure he was a guy that Gerbe hyped up quite a bit that draft |

If we can do a Fasching (bc they need a forward they won't have to protect) for Josh Manson deal with the Ducks...
(Or something like that)
Then I'm with ya there
I agree that we don't need an AllStar to pair with Risto
And Guhle on our 3rd pair next year is MUCH more reasonable than expecting him to be a top4 guy right away
I think that's crazy for ppl to expect |

Ekblad has been brutal this year
right now I say Pastrnak is the second best player, though he was not on radar for any of those players in the top 10 at the draft
Larkin took a huge step back
Arvidsson may be the steal of the draft |

I only saw Ekblad like twice this year...
but that whole team is a mess apparently
Including Yandle
I'd trade quite a bit for Ekblad if they'd consider moving him |

seems like he is trying to do too much, like myers did the last few years here |
