That's who I would target (Trouba).
I'd hope the price isn't crazy insane and bank on the fact that he still wants out.
He and Ristolainen anchoring the top 2 pairs would be very good. - kingcong39
Well they aren't taking back Kane...
so what could we realistically give them?
Sam?
Idk they'd want a package built around our 1st this year,
Even if it's a top10 pick
I think they wanna get to the playoffs ASAP |

I watched 10 or so panther games
seems like he is trying to do too much, like myers did the last few years here - homiedclown
With his team underperforming,
I could see him trying to do too much like you're saying
Still think he'll be an anchor for them for the next 10+ years though

I still think jack johnson or jay bow would be great to play with risto - homiedclown
But are they available?
And J-bo is starting to get up there in age...
right? |

Even if having a 4 mil guy as your 7th d is okay, they'd never do that. So long as hes around he'll get ice time from players who deserve it more because "veteran presence". We've had something like 11 d-men play for the sabres this year and gorges might be the 9th best of that group. - Sabresfan-365
If you have McCabe, Guhle, and Fedun in your top 7 next year, having Gorges at $4M in your 6th/7th D role is not going to hurt.
Your other point is an accurate one and more the concern.
I would hope Dan would understand not to play Gorges in anything more than the bottom D role, and that Murray would have that talk with him as well, if needed. |

Draisaitl is benefiting greatly by playing on the wing with mcdavid
Not that he isn't good
But we made the right pick at the time
No question
I do like Ehlers a lot though
Pretty sure he was a guy that Gerbe hyped up quite a bit that draft - jdfitz77
Draisaitl was averaging close to a PPG last year when McJesus was hurt. He's the real deal.
Reinhart had something like 10 or 11 points in the 20 or so games Eichel missed. He's a passenger.
Still a good player. And definitely better than how he started |

Is not unreasonable. The guy you put with risto doesnt have to be a top pairing guy, just has to be a shot suppressing defensive guy to help with some of risto's short comings. - Sabresfan-365
Does Seidenberg fit that role for Player X at least for a year on a cheap contract with how he has played for the Islanders this year?
NOTE: this comment brought to you by someone who has zero clue of Seidenberg's advanced stats. |

i dunno why they didnt try trading up. 3 2nd rounders and couldn't find anybody to deal? Even at a massive overpayment still would've gotten them into the first round.
Santini hasn't been overly impressive either, granted hes in the nhl and karabacek is not. Ditto Dougherty - Sabresfan-365
Murray is on record as saying that he did try and do this - but no takers

I'm sure he's interesting to teams
But I like how he's played well consistently now for the past year
So if we're trading him,
I'd like it to be part of a package for a really good player
Not sure that's realistic
I'm certainly not shipping him out for a draft pick or mid-level prospect |

I only saw Ekblad like twice this year...
but that whole team is a mess apparently
Including Yandle
I'd trade quite a bit for Ekblad if they'd consider moving him - jdfitz77
The only thing I am worried about for Ekblad now is he has had 2 major concussions already |

That's the difficult part regarding trading for Trouba.
My guess would be something like McCabe + Nylander is along the lines of what they would ask, or one of the two of those players plus the 2017 1st round pick and a prospect. |

Your sample sizes for use of those stats are WAY too small for me to agree with your assessments on them
I do think Draisaitl is good
If u remember, I talked about him A LOT that draft
But Sam does A LOT of things that don't show up on the scoresheet
Like in that Nashville game where he made plays where we don't tie, or win, without what he did on those goals |

Out of all those things...
only Nylander makes sense as something they'd want back
And that's only if they think he's ready to make a difference next year
The 1st or prospect (say Guhle), doesn't help them get to the playoffs soon enough imo
And McCabe keeps them in the same spot they're at now where they'd lose Myers at the expansion draft |

Sure, but this is kind of a general statement. Isn't it possible Draisaitl makes those plays too?
I like Reinhart, but the "cerebral" talk has always annoyed me. Like he's playing with a bunch of illiterate cavemen and he's reading Shakespeare on the bench.
Tons of guys make smart plays |

jay bow just turned 33, signed for 2 more seasons at 5.4 per
with the blues, shat, parayko and pietrangelo have been getting the pp time, so his numbers don't look like they did a few years ago
I would keep him on the radar because your much better with him, guhle and mccabe than the crap we have right now |

Wouldn't McCabe allow them to lose Myers in the expansion draft while retaining a quality D player on a much better contract?
That's how I'd look at it. |

Unless the balloon pops on his play, isn't Seidenberg a better target as an FA signing with his cheap contract and quality play?
That would allow them to aim higher regarding their main pickup while having Seidenberg be a quality cheap signing. |
