Why do you want to move Simmonds, the guy is doing everything asked of him and he is a heart and soul player. They guy I would be looking to move right now is Couturier. He is a 3rd line centre at best, a smuch as many would like to think he can play second line, he has shown not enough offensive touch to be there. - Daceroni

No but getting Matthews or Laine would have been awesome last year Tkachuk was 6th but he's looking great
Before that
McDavid Eichel Strome Marner Hanifin all look amazing
Before that
Ekblad Reinhart Draisaitl Bennet would have been amazing
Before that
MacKinnon Barkov Drouin Jones Lindholm would have been great
getting a top 5 pick should be a top prioroity for this team now - 2Real

That's not what I've said - PhillySportsGuy
Simmonds and Voracek need to stay.
Giroux I doubt gets us what we deserve, but it's looking more and more necessary as his play continues its downward trend to briere status. |

No, we're plummeting. Tank at all costs.
Until we win another game, then we're right back in the mix. |

I was legit. just asking. I would love to land a top-tier "elite" forward right now, but I would not firesale and intentionally lose for multiple seasons to do so.
Edit: MAYBE if you could guarantee a cup within 5 years I'd be okay with it. But without that guarantee, you basically end up back where you are, you just endured a few intentionally awful seasons in addition to it. - jmatchett383
I can guarantee you that this team WON'T win a cup in the next 5 years with the players they currently have on the team or in the system. |

So the only option they have is to tank for one or more seasons? They can't hit a Benn type, can't trade for top-line help, can't have one of Stolarz/Sandstrom become a top-10 goalie? There is zero chance of that happening? |

I know I am in the minority but if I could trade Giroux right now I would. But his contract and the probable return makes that a moot point. (Though a high round pick and cap space isn't nothing)
So I just hope that he suddenly has a career resurgence at the age of 30 despite his small size and lack of production at anywhere but the PP.

Fire Hak Hire Hitch - FlyersNapTime
These players will revolt at playing Hitch's defensive system. If they can't play Hak's there's no way they'll play Hitch's |

Luke Schenn is the next Adam Foote. - jmatchett383
the Flyers "tanked" for one season and got JVR. Now don't get me wrong, I like JVR and didn't want to trade him and he could help this team but he isn't a franchise player. you can look at every draft year and see top 10 bust or just ok players and gems later in the draft. does it help to get a McDavid, Matthews, Crosby, OV, Kane, Malkin, etc? sure. but not every draft year has players like that. I want to see them continue to build. I'm not saying I wouldn't move a player if the right trade came along but don't trade for the take of it. |

I'd be fine with trading Giroux, it all depends on what's coming back |

I'm not in favor of tanking. I'm also not in favor of pretending to be a team on the rise.
Keep Simmonds. Keep Voracek. Trade Giroux. Trade Schenn. Euthanize Read.
Win. |

To be fair, Kane should have been a Flyer.
League purposely did that. |

But that alone won't get you a top-5 pick. To get a top-5 pick, as some have suggested is required, you'd need to move one of Simmonds or Jake and healthy scratch Provorov. |

I'm not saying firesale. I'm saying the team should have or could possible trade some vets in order to secure young forward talent that could blossom around the same time as the young defensemen.
This would likely have resulted in the team taking a couple steps back and finishing within the bottom 10 for a few seasons. They wouldn't have been an embarrassment to the sport; they just would have been a regular bad team. |
