No more former UND players of Hakstol on this team. Ever again. But to be serious, this just seems like an overcomplicated deal, just simplify it to Simmonds and Drai.

I think Edmonton declines Simmonds for Drai 1 for 1, but Chiarelli is also an idiot and that must be factored in. Drai is currently on RW, but I do that deal 1 for 1 in a heartbeat. I think anyone would, love Simmer though we do. It just doesn't seem realistic. Edmonton probably envisions dumping RNH and running McDavid/Dr. Drai for the next decade plus as their stacked top 6 centers. And they just signed Lucic.

I love Draisatl, but I doubt Edmonton is moving him unless Provorov is coming back. Kicking tires on a guy like Sam Bennett in Calgary may be more reasonable.

It would stink losing Simmonds but I like Bennetts game and I think he has 1c skills. I wonder if you could do a bigger package with Mason and bring back a goalie to expose in the expansion draft and maybe keep for next season to battle Stolarz possibly.


Maybe there is a way to get Ferland in a package with Calgary? He could bring some needed edge if you were to lose Simmonds.

The thing is, I don't see any team trading a 20-21 year old center with 1C potential for a 28 year old power forward unless they were absolutely convinced that the 28 year old was the final piece needed to win the Cup. I don't think either Edmonton or Calgary feels that way. However, when it comes to Edmonton, you just never know. Chia has made some really odd moves in the past, so I guess anything is possible.

I like Bennett too but I just don't see Hextall making any impact deals. You know Homer would have done something by now.

Simmonds is not being traded nor should he people. He is def not the issue here. If we can exchange about 5 players with somebody else we have a chance. And yes, I like somebody else.

I think with Simmonds having some term and on very cheap deal for what he brings could bring Bennett.

Edmonton is interesting because I think they really need to reach the playoffs and make a strong push with all these top picks. In that case I couldn't see Drasital moved. I could see them using Puljujarvi to get a guy like Simmonds.

The funny thing is that if the Flyers traded Wayne Simmonds to EDM for Draisaitl there would be an outrage here. People would have no clue.
