I imagine most (probably all) of us here in the HBSL are playing at least 1 Sabre, likely at least 2 (only 2 myself, but almost went 3).
I thought I'd do some stat research and found this out:
HBSL Fantasy Points per game:
Eichel: 8
The top 10 Centers:
Crosby: 10.6
Malkin: 10.1
McDavid: 8.7
Carter: 8.3
Seguin: 8.1
Scheifele: 8.1
Pavelski: 7.7
Tavares: 8.1
Kadri: 8.01
Matthews: 7.96
Edit:
His point total is propped up by shots (4 per game, each shot being 1 point), but he's also skewed in PIM since you get points for them and he only has 4 whereas Malkin has 56, Kadri has over 60, and the rest of the top 10 have and average around 20 PIM - stashu
I don't know why PIM would be awarded points, as they rarely help a team. |

Meh...fantasy sports logic. Each PIM is 2 points, each shot is 1.
Remove Malkin's PIMs and he has an average of 7.7 fantasy points per game
Edit:
Oops, that's wrong. Forwards get 1 point per PIM, d-men get 2.
Malkin minus PIMs = 8.9 points per game |

Yep, good call (just looked him up)
I spend a lot of my time looking to add players on the first screen or two every week, but I really need to dig further to find players like that who've missed time but are still putting up good numbers. |

I know it's not gonna happen, but let's have some fun.
With all wins "this week" (going by HBSL weeks, which is Monday through Sunday), Buffalo could have 62 points.
Ottawa has 3 games
Boston has 3 games
Toronto has 4 games
Florida has 2 games
Tampa has 3 games
Detroit has 4 games
If all those teams win their games, except for Toronto vs Buffalo, then the standings are:
Montreal
Ottawa 66
Boston 64
Toronto 63
Buffalo 62
Florida 60
Detroit 60
Tampa 58

They've been good against the west, so here's hoping that continues (that's 3 of the 5), and then NJ and Toronto. Not extreme reaches to say they can beat them, just gotta hope the good side of this Jekyll/Hyde team comes to play this week. |

Definition of a young team - IonSabres
http://stats.nhlnumbers.com/teams
According to this, as of now, we are the 5th youngest.
Interesting part, the 4 younger teams have more points than we do.

Since December we have learned that when they play North Hockey they are capable of playing with any team in the league, but that the weakness of the defense is just too much for the strength of the offense to offset. Interestingly, with Kulikov and Gorges* healthy, back in the lineup, and properly slotted, the defense has looked pretty good.
Maybe we see start to see a lot more of Hyde and a lot less of Jekyl.
* I know, I know. |

Did any of those 4 teams lose their star player for 1/4 of the season along with half the blueline?
I know that typically you can't use injuries as an excuse, but I'd have to think that while we might not be a ton better in the standings, there would at least have been more consistency from one game to the next overall, which would probably translate into some sort of improvement in the standings. |

Winnipeg has had a pretty rough go of it.
I think the injuries are a valid excuse for some of it.
I think the "were young" was never an excuse to be honest. |

You're only looking at one part of the equation. I also mentioned the defensive injuries, and we're yet to have them fully healthy with Jack in the lineup as well. |

I don't know that Winnipeg can be counted as having a better year than us right now. Yes, they're ahead of us points wise, but they've played 55 games and have 54 points. We've played 51 games and have 52 points. So based on PPG, we're ahead of them. |

you mean the ones where gorges got hurt and was replaced by a far better fedun? The drop off in talent/production between our 2nd pair and ahl call ups sadly isnt that far off.
you could make the argument that our 3rd most talented defencemen currently plays in the chl. |

In Goals per game, Eichel is tied for 21st in the NHL (tied with Tavares, Kadri and Hoffman).
That ranks better than some good players:
McDavid
Seguin
Kessel
Kane (the really good one)
There are some oddities on the list ahead of him:
Oshie - 19 goals already this season when that's pretty much his career average
Kreider - already tied with his career high of 21 goals, which he ended each of the last 2 seasons with
Grabner - 23 already, after scoring 29 total in the last 3 seasons (178 games)
And this is in a drought by Eichl who only has 4 goals in his last 13 games (two games in that span he scored twice in each)
He just misses the top 50 in points/game - 50th is .788, Jack has .767 |

his chances created per 60 or whatever is beatiful. Its like a big damn just waiting to explode and turn into crazy production.
