Going to take more than TK and Ghost failing. - dragonoffrost
Morin won't fail. When he makes his NHL debut at 30, he will be a seasoned vet. |

Well two of the prospects have been healthy scratches lately. And now Konecny is injured. - PLindbergh31
Doesn't mean they failed.
Konecny is going through a natural season as a 19 year old rookie.
Gostisbehere is struggling this season but seemed to play well under the same coach just last year.
Provorov is the teams best defenseman.
Not sure I consider that a failure. |

Not really. By the time Simmonds is a FA if the Cap is managed properly they can have plenty of space. Right now the Flyers have the following signed when Simmer is an FA
Giroux = 8.275
Voracek = 8.25
Schenn = 5.125
Couturier = 4.33
Weise - Final year = 2.35
AMac - Final year = 5
Gudas - Final year 3.35
You can build around that. Ghost is an RFA after this season so his struggles actually are for the best. We can get him a lot cheaper for 3-5 years. Duchene is at a 6mill cap. It is not impossible that COL could keep 1 mill in a deal while they rebuild. The 3 final year players should be able to be traded at that point to free up most of that space.
The Flyers should look to get a long term top 6. Sign 6 bottom 6 players for 2 years max. D will be focused around our young guys. We should be able to get Ghost and Provorov signed cheap before their deals end or raise their worth too much and then you kind of just fill in the blanks for 2 years to leave an option for the others to step up at any time.
You are then left with goalies. Flyers if handled properly could have a lot of cap space in the future. Hextall was able to trade Vinny so he can do almost anything IMO - xShoot4WarAmpsx
I don't think Ghost signs a 3-5 year deal for cheap. I would imagine his side will push for a 1 or 2 year deal coming off of this season |

Intangibles are nice.
But I need to get more talent and depth on this roster. - J35Bacher
Moving Simmonds means an already soft team gets softer.
You are also losing your top goal scorer so an already poor offensive team gets worse.
Needs to be a homerun return to move Simmonds for me. |

The core is more than G and Simmonds.
Streit, Schenn, Coots, Jake... - dragonoffrost
I don't include Streit in the core at this point |

Why do the Flyers make every back up goalie look like a Vezina trophy winner? This guy was pulled in his last game for allowing 5 goals on 30 shots and the team has the worst save percentage in the league. |

If he's going to be stripped of the C and stay here it will be ugly. Not saying it will happen but that's a good reason to get out of Dodge. Plus he likes to golf and Arizona is nice year round and he won't be in the playoffs for a few seasons. - dragonoffrost
Don't think he will lose his C and he would dictate greatly where he goes. |

So being benched for a few games equals failure?
Im also not sure what TK being hurt has to do with him failing. |

Can I ask what Simmonds does that doesn't make this team soft?
I understand his skills.
But I consider a fast team, that dogs the puck, gets in on the forecheck and plays a strong team defense not to be soft.

I see where you are coming from but I personally don't. he is going to be gone by year end if not sooner. we probably view what is core differently. wouldn't surprise me if the Flyers view it your way |

If Simmonds is moved it's not for just a shake up.
I would want a potential 1st line center probably in the 20-24 range. Examples being Sam Bennett, Alex Galchenyuk, Leon Drasitl. |

No it's not failing. But scratching young kids and having them sit in a press box on a team that is full of plugs is dumb. |

48 Corsi For, 20 shots on net and 5 high difficulty chances. YEP! not much room. |

Since it's not the 80s or 90s toughness-fighting doesnt matter as much anymore but that is something he brings.
Maybe I just dont want to think of moving Simmonds because to me he is a Flyer in the classic mold.

Like how you cherry pick what posts to respond to. I asked what does it suggest spending up to the cap every year and having a roster void of high end talent? Wiese and Manning playing in Overtime? Wiese on the second unit PP? How do you explain this? |
