Wouldn't go that far.. You could tell he could barely get through the interview
- bluengold12

He was definitely favoring his arm coming off. We'll see how he is tomorrow. Dunleavy was right, with the adrenaline of the comeback and the win, and just playing you can get through a lot, but let it sit and tighten up for a few hours/overnight and we'll really see.

I'm not either honestly. Part of me feels like he is too old-school for such a young group. It seems to be the only thing that explains guys like Moulson/Gorges getting minutes that they do over guys like Carrier/Bailey/Falk who hustle/grind/chip/pester on every shift.

I've heard from various places, outside of this board, that the group doesn't really enjoy playing for him but I've also heard that some players just don't fit the locker room and there is animosity among them. To me, these rumors all fall on the coach in a lot of ways.

That being said, everyone wanting him fired every day is a little old hat too. There is so much negativity here its toxic.

- Phatjohnsn

That was the big knock on him coming out of Pittsburgh was that he played his vets over his young guys even when the young guys deserved more playing time. I was hoping he learned from that, but it doesn't really look like it. But on the other hand you do have to manage the players' egos too, a guy like Moulson needs to have ice time even though he clearly isn't up to it anymore, but it's better than him completely shutting down and getting nothing from him.

I don't particularly care if they enjoy playing for a certain coach, as long as they do. When they tune him out is when I get worried. Herb Brooks was a bastard to play for, Mike Keenan too, so are Laviolette and Torts, but they get results.

That was a great win. But it's also like the 30th turning point of the year for this team.

To me, this is the most frustrating, and confusing season,,,
Losing to the lowly Devils last night 2-1,,,
Coming back like this tonight?!,,,

Shouldn't be confusing. We aren't a good team yet. We are going to win some games, going to lose more.

Tonight was fun. Last night was not, next game is a coin flip

I know less about Brooks (outside of USA-Russia game) but aren't the latter 3 coaches who have more than 500 Ws as head coaches? Bylsma has less than half of all of them, I believe. Also a lot of people forget that Bylsma coached a Stanley Cup winning team for less than half that season.

None of this automatically means Bylsma is a bad coach but I'd say Keenan, Laviolette, and Torts have the advantage of just being winning coaches. So what they say carries weight whether players love it or not. Similar to Belichek in the NFL, winning basically washes away all sins. Byslsma has not done enough winning to wash anything off, as I see it.

I honestly think this team is loaded wit talented players!
I question their level of effort!!!
Like tonight, look at the third period, they wanted to play hard, and look at the results.
Last night, they did not even wanted to be on the ice, IMO.
Is that coaching?!
Is it players not wanting to play for him?!

im not a fan of Bylsma. Last nights game is the reason. You know how NJ plays…..you have to figure out a way to beat that stifling system.
Tonight was awesome….also Bylsma's system.
what to do? Drink moar?

It's not a turning point. It's another plot point on an upward arc. The arc is more gradual than you like. That doesn't change it's direction.
