This reads pretty whiney for a team that tried to fight every time they took a clean hit. Why was last night's game boring, because we dominated and had 40 shots?

Your goalie ( who is a known hothead) didn't care about henrique, how do you figure it impeded him?

The more important question, when you're done, do you fold or crumple the TP?

This is the part that worries me. His big attempt, at least based on public knowledge, was cam fowler

This means one of two things. either he simply can't/won't pull the trigger on a bigger deal involving players he likes to land a true #1 and is therefore settling and trying to pass fowler off as top pair material

OR

He really believes Fowler is top pair material. He's either got a poor eye for defensive talent or has just come to the realization that the mishandling of assets during the building has cost him the opportunity get this team what it really needs. In either case is this not grounds for having him replaced with someone who can get the job done?

Sorry to bring over a stale conversation Stash, but I had to respond after back reading.

First, I preface this by saying I too am not convinced on Murray yet.

Isn't it possible that there is a 3rd option to add to the 2 you mentioned above?

He inquired about all the usual suspects, such as your love Lindholm (contrasted by your hatred for Fowler haha), and found the price was not just high, but bordering on ridiculous.

He set his sights on Fowler as it was widely known he was available, and he did so because he thought he could get him for a reasonable price, and he would be the first of two pieces being added to the defense that would make over the defense.

Then he found out they wanted the #8 pick ++ and he did not give in, when I remember many, including you, assuming he would and already getting upset about it.

I think him not giving in to that high asking price for someone like Fowler is actually the first sign that he has begun altering his ways.

That's part of a GM's job though. To get other GM's to dance with him.

He did that with Sakic and Chevy.

Improving the team is solely on him.

Also, Hamilton, Seth Jones, have been traded, along with Yandle, Goligoski (traded then signed before July 1)

I don't think Murray should be fired, but say by next year this time, after 4 years of being here, if the blue line isn't competent, he should be on the hot seat

I will go one further and say if the Sabres do not make the playoffs next year, both the GM and coach are gone, and that is if Bylsma is not gone before that point.

Of the D men you mentioned above, the only one I'd want is Jones. The rest are good but not with the potential to be true top quality D men, IMO.

You don't think Hamilton or Yandle would be sever upgrades to this team as of today??

At this point, both would be our best D man.

Yandle hasn't been living up to expectations this year I would say him and Risto are pretty even

Hamilton I would agree with you

I would not want Yandle at his age and that contract and I believe Calgary fans have complained about Hamilton multiple times, including his name being floated in trade rumors.

Overall, I was talking in the context of getting a true top quality D, or perhaps one that could be, meaning a young quality guy that Carolina, Anaheim, or Minnesota has.

Hamilton was not being traded in the division.
Yandle I recall the majority here saying he was too old and was going to be too expensive in 3-4 years.

The Myth surrounding Sam Reinhart

Day after day there are jabs at Reinhart here - he can't pull a team on his own, he can't make the team better, he rides the coattails of Jack Eichel, etc.

Here's some actual data, rather than storytelling:

Reinhart had 10 points in the first 21 games of the season - the 21 Eichel missed. In those 21 games, those 10 points equate to 26.3% participation in all team goals.

Since Eichel's return, he (Eichel) has 22 points in his 30 games played. Guess what that works out to in relation to the percentage of team goals he has been a part of?

26.4%

Man...that Eichel is the best on the team, but that scrub Reinhart can't contribute worth a damn without him!!

(btw, in the time since Eichel's been back, Reinhart has contributed 21 points - 1 less than Eichel)

- stashu

Maybe the criticisms are a little unfair. However, in reference to their teams goal%, I do think Eichel has been severely unlucky lately.

Eichel has created a ton more chances/shots than Reinhart has, and it's not close.

I am definitely young compared to some who post here and have seen generations of great players, but Eichel creates like no other Sabre I have seen outside of perhaps Mogilny that one season when he was on a rampage.

It would be amazing to watch what he could do if there was zero obstruction.

They play with the same people for the most part since they're almost always on the ice together, yet they have almost identical production that is verifiable.

Eichel's the flashy "do all the leg work" kind of guy, there's really not much denying that, but Reinhart is equally important to this team and the production.

One other aspect however is Eichel's recent reluctance to shoot and go for some passes. The kid has a hell of a shot, so while he does seemingly drive a lot of scoring opportunities (would need statistical evidence before I would agree with it), he's also removing a lot of them by trying to be too fancy.

BTW, since you had snarky remarks earlier in the season, I thought I'd bring this one out.

Reinhart has 21 assists - only 4 are secondary.

For some added info, Eichel has 10 assists, 3 are secondary.

Correct but the actual point is Reinhart is involved in the same (or more) percentage of Sabres goals without Eichel.

Point being people need to find a new whipping boy
