He had to go one way or another. The way they did this. I'm so sour on this team right now I'm pissing lemon juice. I'm almost rooting against them.

Is the playoff ultimatum off the table since Sweeney repeatedly spoke about the future? Could they be sellers, and start gaining assets for the new coach to use?

Ty's article from weei. Explains a lot of things.

I honestly think they feel they can get into the playoffs this year. As Ty pointed out, they will probably get a couple of quick wins under Cassidy, or maybe even have a decent month of February, and become buyers sadly enough. This season could end up being one gigantic nightmare. Well, more than it already is.

What are the odds of a postponement tomorrow night? Got tickets for the first time in a few years and of course a storm is coming.

But see this kinda pisses me off even more, as a fan, I didnt expect them to make the playoffs this year, especially after the last few, and who they brought in. Backes doesnt make this team any faster or uptempo. They needed an upgrade at D, not another center. they needed a backup goalie, Khudobin was in the AHL last year for a reason. Its one thing if they would "like" to make the playoffs, vs "expect" to make the playoffs. clode should have been let go at the end of last season, or at the end of this one. But good for him, he doesnt have to answer to the media anymore about how this team isnt any good, and he'll be working again real soon.

Cant wait until we go 0-2 vs Vegas next year with CJ at the helm of that team. Will just be an extremely bitter taste of irony.

PS, Sweeney and Neely can go (frank) themselves. Just collecting a paycheck and when it was time to make a hard decision, show the public complete and utter cowardice by hiding behind the Pats parade.

I really think all this "hiding behind the parade" stuff is nonsense. It makes sense what he said about having a few days off to adjust. He should not be concerned about what's going on in the NFL when making decisions like this. I do, however, agree that if they didn't believe Julien was the answer going forward they should have fired him months ago or before the season. Possibly could have landed Boudreau. This teams been on eggshells all year.

As far as Cassidy, I real hope he ditches the status quo. I think the lines need to be totally mixed to get guys like Krejci and Backes going and to give a guy like Cehlarik or Heinen or even Debrusk a chance. Spooners the odd man out to me. Package him for a d man

Belesky Bergeron Cehlarik/Heinen/Debrusk/Trade?
Marchand Krejci Pasta
Vatrano Czarnik Backes
Schaller Moore Nash

(frank) that. They deliberately did it behind the parade to minimize media coverage. There was several times during the past few weeks (all star break???) that this could have been done. Dont stand up for cowardice, because thats exactly what Sweeney and Neely reek of.

Also, its not the 50's where there is one channel and no internet and you can actually bury a lead. There were already countless people calling them out for hiding behind the parade before the presser even happened. It was complete nonsense, you cant bury the lead anymore, its 2017. There presser was still fairly full and everyone and their mother knew about it thanks to nesn, espn, local channels, twitter, etc...

its no coincidence that they did it when they did. and mission was accomplished. the talk in the media was all Pats and then oh yeah, the Bruins fired Julien.

Personally, i'd like to see Gerard Gallant get a kick at coaching this team. He's loved by his players and is great at developing young talent.

I was fortunate enough to have worked with Gerard in the past. Guy is pure professional and is well respected by his team.

I'm not holding my breath on Cassidy. Also, I hope this serves notice that Sweeney is now on a short leash. His scapegoat is no longer around. All fingers now point to him and Neely. I've lost a lot of respect for Cam over the last few years. Seabass is a bum.

Yup...fire Claude...because HE's the braintrust behind giving away Seguin, Hamilton and Reilly Smith for nothing. He's the one who overpaid for Beleskey and Backes. He's the one who passed on Barzal and Conner. He's the one who couldn't find replacements on the blueline or a true sniper up front. Yup, sounds about right.

Neely has to go NOW.

I'm sure he and Sweeney will go, after the Carlo and pasta trades...

To me this entire thing and most of their moves reek. Of Neely micromanaging. I'd be inclined to give Sweeney a chance to see what he can do without Seabass breathing down his neck.

Also Reilly Smith stinks, I nearly threw a party when he got traded.

As stinky as smith was, he was fifteen times the player Hayes was last year.

disagree. They could have done it monday. They could have done it at 4:pm after parade. They did it right when most of the press (and fans ) were busy. cowardly.

Dont get me wrong, I liked the trade for Hayes at the time. But Smith is still many times the player hayes is this year, even with fewer points. Hayes is garbage.

I also disagree with shaudre's lines. They are possibly the worst possible combination. You've basically put Bergeron alone on the first line? That will not help him with production... if there's a shakeup it should maybe swap pasta with Vatrano which worked before. Debrusk is not ready and Belesky is a third or second liner.

If you want them gone then hit JJ were it hurts...his wallet. Stop watching, stop going and stop buying merch. Also if they miss the playoffs for a 3rd straight year I have ti imagine change is coming. Even in the days when Sinden rolled out Joe Thornton and surrounded him with crap and retirees they still made the 1st round. There is no way JJ will stand keep losing playoff gates due to an incompetent front office. Way too greedy for that.
