For all the Bylsma hate-fest going on, I feel it's relevant to bring up how he's changed the OT strategy, and it's working.

But I know he never can adjust

- sbroads24

Yeah, he deserves big time credit for that switch, no doubt. He was playing not to lose, and now they're playing to win. A large part of that has to be the realization that we can't win in the shootout.

Look at the goals from last night though. The tying and GWG were off the rush. Imagine if this team were allowed to take some offensive chances to create more rush opportunities. Instead we sit back and get outshot every night. I think his rationale is that if you play passive, you only allow low-percentage shots. Well, that's fine, but if you're allowing 40 low perscentage, you're still gonna get scored on.

I would almost guarantee that if at the end of the second they were down 3-1, but were trading chances with SJS instead of sitting back, no one would have booed.

This system is boring and not particularly effective. At home, boring is OK if you're winning, but that product last night was garbage for 40 minutes

To be honest some of those fans don't even know those hockey players some of them just know the buffalo players just saying and ( babysitters) (work) ( beating traffic)

It was a nice comeback but it still doesn't help they embarrassed themselves for 50 minutes
I give them a pat on the back for coming back let's see what they do tomorrow

- GERBE!!!75PTS

There's no such thing as "traffic" in Buffalo
Living out in Cali, u should know this
And u didn't plan on leaving early...
the extra $10 for the babysitter shouldn't determine whether or not u stay

I guess if you're just a moderate fan, then whatever
But I was referring more to the ppl we talk to here

That's a little more understandable
ALSO though...
u can turn the tv back on
Can't leave & come back

- jdfitz77

Turned off the jersey game too.

This team just does not interest me right now. They are just not good.

That's great and all but OT is max 5 min at the end of the game, I'd much rather see him adjust his gameplan for periods 1-3, then we wont need to go to OT.

Some of the disco dan hate is unwarranted but some of his in game decision (or lack there of) are concerning, like call ups playing 8 min a night on the fourth line or the constant line juggling and over the top defensive play.

Idk if it's going away anytime soon,
So we might as well try to improve...

Btw,
Did u know Oshie is gonna be a UFA this year?
That's intriguing to me
Especially if we move Kane for a defenseman

They used a game system from the 80s ? I'm kind of interested to o see how that intro is

Why not use game footage or Xbox 360 or Xbox One

I wish someone had a video this I can't find it on YouTube lol

- GERBE!!!75PTS

It's a compilation from N64 NHL '99, 2K5 for Xbox and some other stuff. I'm in my mid 20s and remember all those games, so for me, it's pretty awesome. They also tweek it on game nights to picture footage of the opposing team. They recreated Afinogenov's spinning and played real footage with it too. I love it

I hear ya
But young teams are generally inconsistent
We're gonna look good some nights & bad others
Heck...
it often changes from period to period even

I've gone to too many crap games the last 5 years. I would buy cheap stubhub tix during the 13-15 tank years just for something to do. It's one thing to leave a seesaw game that they're losing 5-3, but last night was flat out dominance by the Sharks. At least, that's how i rationalize it

Oh man fitz I would rather stay in the house then go to a game then deal with LA traffic
I was in traffic for 2 hours one time that was it for me lol

I have met fans that just follow the Sabres it annoys me because they're missing out on really good NHL players that's just me

Imagine if he played the way u want all year long...
missing Eichel, O'Reilly, all kinds of defensive injuries

Even now, when mostly healthy...
we've gotta learn how to play better defense before we "turn them loose" or we're gonna end up losing a lot of game 6-3

I don't think we have the horses on the backend to play the sort of shutdown system he wants. I'm not saying every line should be run and gun, but even Lindy Ruff would let vanek cheat at the blueline for an opportunity. When Eichel gets the puck, he's usually circling back into his own zone and then cranking it up the ice. Imagine if he were allowed to leave a bit earlier.

Have a system where in the defensive zone, Reinhart is basically playing center. IDK it's just boring. Boring + .500 results isn't great

Are they not allowed to or do we not have the personnel to?

Besides 15 and 9, we don't have guys that are great on the rush.

21,90, 23, are all guys who cycle the puck well and score that way.

My qualm with the system is basically the forwards looping back into the D zone to start the rush. By the time they complete that maneuver, the opposing team is in postition to shut down the zone entry. Then half the time we half to dump the puck in AFTER the forwards are stopped flatfooted at the offensive blueline waiting for the puck carrier and the dump in is basically a turnover to the opposing team behind the net.

Is losing 6-3 really that much more "fun" for u ?
I do see your point...
but I'd rather us be focusing on what's gonna help the team turn into a consistent winner...
even if that means playing "boring" for right now

Our offensive talent needs to learn how to be responsible defensively

I would rather watch a game where we lose 6-3 than the type of duds we put up against Carolina, NJ and other stifling teams. I'd rather our team learns to score in a fun offensive system now, and we can play a more sound defensive game when we get two more good defensemen
