Or San Jose did what the Sabres get accused of doing all the time. Parking the bus with a lead - sbroads24
Last night was only one example though sir
We've been coming back A LOT lately
and we've beaten a good amount of really good teams this year,
Some in a dominant fashion (Ottawa most recently)
We've still got a ways to go...
but we're getting there imo |

Was looking at UFA defenders outside of Shattenkirk that may fill a hole for us:
What does everyone think of Alzner? 2.8M right now, will probably want 4-5M. Is he worth that? |

We've also blown leads to Boston, Toronto, Philly etc.
Last night was great. We still get outplayed 5 on 5 a majority of every game. Until that changes, we are gonna hover around where we are.
Right direction, absolutely. Still a few things have to go right for us to legitimately contend |

I brought him up a few weeks ago
IMO...
he's the perfect style of defenseman to pair with Risto or Bogo
The need a defensive defenseman to stay home & let them carry the puck up the ice more. That could help our breakouts a lot
He's also a "shutdown" type guy
I don't think he's an AllStar, but I do like him...
I also only watch the Caps randomly
Can he be our Hjarlmsson?
(Most underrated Hawks player imo) |

Yep... totally agree
But that's what happens with so much youth on the roster
Takes them time to figure out how to be CONSISTENT Pros
Even a guy as talented as Eichel
That Couture goal was pretty much all his fault
Didn't even check to see if another Shark was coming |

I wouldn't mind him. He is a solid player, scores about 20+ a year. I would say he would probably be the second best defenseman behind ristolainen if he was on this team. |

As Im sure he'll point this out, the teams that are younger than us or have younger cores are ahead of us in the standings. Young mans game, that excuse doesn't really work anymore. These guys are taught from a very early age how to handle being a pro/
Also, I dunno if thats all eichel on that goal. No doubt he should have stayed with him but that play should have been dead on the initial save. |

Role is more or less filled by mccabe so id say pass, especially at ufa money. Caps are tight against the cap though, Id make a play for orlov |

From Anaheim blog...
Question 3) If the Ducks make a big trade near the deadline, it will involve a key defenseman. Who would you rather trade Sami Vatanen or Cam Fowler?
Cam Fowler. The Ducks already have their star two-way defenseman in Hampus Lindholm. They need to have an offense first defenseman as well. That is Vatanen. Fowler is a solid all around defenseman, but he's not as good all around as Lindholm and he's not as much of a scoring that as Vatanen. If the Ducks are to trade a defenseman, it should be Fowler. - thecanuck341
I realize he has more trade value but if Fowler goes, Murray is writing off this season. Cam has EASILY been the Ducks best defenseman this year. Sami should be traded east where he will thrive in a conference that emphasizes skating over physicality. Whether he alone is enough to land a scoring wing is unknown. - duxcup07
Ed: Before the season started, I would have said Fowler should go, but the situation has changed. Fowler has taken his game up a notch this year, while Vatanen has regressed. Murray has both players on reasonable contracts considering the current market for top four defenders. Fowler's deal expires at the end of next season, while the one Vatanen signed this past summer runs through 2019-20. The deciding factor will be whether Murray thinks he can get an affordable extension from Fowler and his agent. If yes, Vatanen goes. If not, the GM will lean on the side of cost certainty and trade Fowler. |

Thought he was brought up before. Good to know, haven't watched him this year at all so was wondering. Glad there's at least a couple opportunities. |

That makes sense as well. Just trying to identify where this top 4 LHD will come from. Orlov would be nice and is a lefty as well. Perhaps the better fit. |

I just hope TM steers clear from shattenkirk
Let him go to his favorite team and get paid 7m a year that's too much for a ehrhoff |

Starting to lean against him as well. I think signing him to that contract would really jeopardize our cap situation moving forward. We have a lot of expiring contracts, but we also have guys like Jack, Samson, and Lehner to sign here shortly.
We'll see. If he gets signed I won't be heartbroken as we'd have a great top pairing IMO, but not sure he's the big fish that would put us over the top. We need more for less. |

Still takes time to learn the game once you're actually in the NHL
Very few jump right in & are consistent
And even guys like Jack that are pretty consistent offensively...
struggle in the D zone... like on that goal
That was Jack's guy
And he didn't even see him till he flew by & put the puck in the net
That goal is on Jack
Rebounds happen |

Shattenkirk is RH though,
So it's very unlikely he'd even get paired w Risto
I'd pass as well I think
Good player though
Just don't think he's the right fit for us |

The loudest I've ever heard the building was a viewing party during the playoffs lo, all those years ago. And it was only the 100's filled, and even then it wasn't totally filled, it was like 90%. We were playing the Flyers I believe, it was a really good game, and I've never heard the building that loud before. And the 2nd loudest was the Ottawa brawl game. That game wasn't even close to how loud the viewing party was. I couldn't hear myself think as the saying goes. |

I was trying to maintain a positive vibe in Pach's old thread until 9:00pm EST, then gave up and got all sensitive watching "This is Us." - Der Kaiser
I've seen the promos for this show. What the hell is it about? It seems nonsensical from the promos. Is there a plot? |

It's really fun isn't it? Stick with the iron sights. The radium sights seem to cover up too much of the target. The one thing I hate is that if you have just started playing and haven't played that particular faction yet during the session you have to take the time to go into your inventory and select the weapon. With the staggered starts you can end up losing a lot of points that way because you're stuck Richarding around while everyone else is capturing. |
