The problem is if we wait in the off-season the team that originally wanted him are now gone
And then we take the risk waiting to the deadline to trade him but we can't because we're in the playoffs..

We'll see what happens but if he keeps up this type of play he might be the most sought-out trade deadline equation for teams

Definitely not. This draft class is weak, the ducks will most likely be picking 24-30, and Theodore is anything from a sure thing. You complain this team isn't good, and you want to acquire more unknowns and questions marks that will set them back even further.
