Sell, Sell, Sell
his problems go back to his days in junior, he is not worth his current salary and will be looking for a raise on his next one. He has scored exactly 30 goals on the dot once and will never again. He is a very good forechecking 3rd liner who if he stays out of trouble and off the IR (two things he struggles with ) he is a 40-50 point guy at the very best. Kane knows he is playing for his next contract, dont be fooled and over pay. If only he were half as good as he thought he was. - Ross77
He might get 30 again this year and didn't score his 1st until 12/3. I see your point though. The problem is if we lose Kane, I think the lack of goal scoring after would hurt us more than lack of D now. |

I don't know how anybody could commit to a long term deal with Kane with anything resembling confidence based on his past.
That is just supporting evidence as to the reason he is being looked at as a key piece in an attempt to get a quality defensemen back. - kingcong39
You want to become a very good team? You keep Kane and extend him . simple as that. |

Is that why the guy has 0 career playoff games? Because he's necessary for success?
Dude is a solid player playing well. You can live without him of it gets you a defenseman they desperately need |

No, he has 0 playoff games because he played for (frank)ing Atlanta and Winnipeg... Jesus Christ. |

Yeah, the Winnipeg team that went to the playoffs when they traded him. Jesus Christ
We also had a winning record with him out of the lineup last year |

Look, Kane's killing it, and I would be willing to sign him to another contract with a reasonably market driven raise.
But is he creating his opportunities, or cashing ridiculous snipes, or stunning us all with amazing bulldozer rushes to the cage?
Or has he been the recipient of a resurgent Gionta, and good work from Jack and Samson? And if he is, can't our younger cheaper guys do that, too?
EDIT: my point is I think he has value, and I think it's enough value that he might bring the ever elusive top pair Damn, and if he can, we should do that ASAP. |

I kinda think he is standing on his own. He is getting some lucky goals, but scoring some snipes too. The OT winner was nice. Play was setup brilliantly by Eichel, but it was a great finish to go upstairs up close to make sure goalie doesn't make the save. Iif Eichel didn't pass it to him, he might've killed Jack. Looked like Eich had a couple opps to feed him and either held on too long or shot himself. |

I think yes and no. I don't think Bailey could have scored his first goal where he powered through Vlasic and sneaked it through Jones, but I think Bailey could have tapped in that feed from Eichel.
Kane is unique. But winning with our current D core would be even more unique |

First off, I would like to touch on something Pach mentioned in his last blog about the state of the fourth line, I was totally against Murray not wanting to resign Tim Schaller, I was informed by members of this board that it was a non issue and that we could do better. Better hasn't happened and Schaller is playing a solid game for the Bruins. I am hoping Evan Rodrigues gets a opportunity to grab a spot on the fourth line and improve that lines production.
Kane has been the benefactor of some good plays by the players he is playing with, not a bad thing, the problem would be if he wasn't scoring when the golden chances present themselves, he seems to be playing a better team game and using his linemates to get plays going.
I have stated that I do not want to trade Kane, but , if it landed us a young, stud D-Man I might have to have a change of heart. |

Not a great Quote GMTM - DDM-Coga
On the radio just an hour ago GMTM said he's "...a bit of an anal stickler" when it comes to getting offsides calls (and all calls in general) correct. I almost laughed myself into the oncoming traffic lane driving home from work. |

I agree about your last point, if the deal is there. BUT Kane has been scoring the timely goals, burying chances, and playing a scratchy game a lot of the Sabres just don't have.
Keep him/ move him=win/win to me. |

The year they got super lucky? How have they been doing since? Oh, yeah, not great. Come on man, you hate Kane and that's ok, but he's more than a "solid" player. |
