I think it's the "MAYBE" that would make most hesitant to take back a prospect as the main piece in a deal for Kane

Bailey will not be Kane, just because they have the same skin tone does not equate to the same talent. This is like saying every QB who is black is the same type QB.

He will never score the way Kane scores in the NHL, he won't be one of the best if not the best forecheckers in the league, he won't kill penalties, take faceoffs and play at Kanes intensity even when Kane signs his next deal. Kane is always on.

Like he'll listen about anyone, but if some team wants to offer some mega deal.. but he isn't shopping Kane. Trading Kane is only smart only if they can't re-sign him.

We all have our own opinions but this team can't score and has a bad D. The top 5 on 5 goal scorer in the NHL was Evander Kane since he scored his 1st goal in early December. That really irks certain people on this blog, the "ten game" crowd

The Sabres are going to be getting rid of a lot of dead weight and let the market decide what his value is. He will want a raise, he signed that other deal years ago, with inflation etc, who wouldn't want a raise? TM referred to him as one of their top 6 forwards, well he'll want to be paid like a top 6 forward who bangs his body, kills penalties.

Murray is in a very difficult position regarding Kane. On one hand hes been playing just like you would want him to, speed physicality and goals hes been great. On the other hand his style of play lends itself to injuries, and the off ice stuff will always be a factor.

It looks like to me, TM is damned if he does, damned if he doesn't. If he trades Kane, doesn't get a premier dman and kane continues his scoring ways looks real bad, given what was given up to get him. If he resigns Kane and he has another bar fight or w/e or his production goes down Murray looks bad. Of course, the dollars and term are also an issue, don't see Kane taking a short deal or a "discount" for us (don't think he would get 7mill but some team will give him a 6x36 contract), and I want no part of that.

He's already making what 5.5? It's only a raise of $500,000 a year if that is in the ball park and he is going to want, and no doubt get, 4-5 years. This is all if he has no more truthful legal issues.
