He will never score the way Kane scores in the NHL, he won't be one of the best if not the best forecheckers in the league, he won't kill penalties, take faceoffs and play at Kanes intensity even when Kane signs his next deal. Kane is always on. - GilPerreault11
Except the token 20 game injury or the first 12 games when he didn't score a goal.
Not just you, but the short term memories here are astounding. |

Sabres fans used to drool over getting/having a player like Kane. A big, tough power forward who could skate like the wind, score and battle down low instead of the weakling Ennis types, or the wimpy, underachieving Stafford types. Now, they want to run this one out of town because he's not a playmaker too. Well, every big skilled body is not going to be Eric Lindros. |

Not a SINGLE person here wants him "run out of town" what people are saying is that if it is the RIGHT trade, you do it. Defense is more of a need and harder to find. Kane is going to want to get paid, and who know s if he would even stay? So you talk about trading him for a legit d-man or letting him walk for free. No one here is saying he sucks and to get him out of here. You have to give to get. Either 9 right now with his elevated value or 23 in the future are probably what it takes to get that top d-man that we so desperately need. |

He always plays hard, and you forget he came back from 4 broken ribs very fast and some of those games were when he was getting back into his game, your short term memory is is manufactured to fit that old, tired agenda. I knew my postings today would really piss you off. |

Before everyone blows their load over Kane's last few months (which he's been excellent, there is no denying)
Let's look at the facts.
Over the past 3 seasons leading up to this one
49 goals 49 assists 98 points
Multiple injuries, multiple off ice issues.
That isn't a one off year. That's a 3 year sample. He's a good player. Saying he is irreplaceable is unbelievable. You can count on him not being in your lineup for a good chunk of every season. |
|
|
|
He's already making what 5.5? It's only a raise of $500,000 a year if that is in the ball park and he is going to want, and no doubt get, 4-5 years. This is all if he has no more truthful legal issues. - GilPerreault11
His cap hit is 5.25, I really don't see him getting a raise, unless he tears it up next year. It will be a short deal, with the same cap hit. Aka prove you're worth it. |

The team can learn how to win when it has a bunch of winners (aka good players) on it.
You won't teach them how to win by keeping mediocre players on expiring contracts here. Ship em out, stockpile picks and strategically plan your expansion draft moves. Then start addressing needs at the entry draft. - Sabresfan-365
how do mid-lower picks who may never see nhl ice help a team learn how to win? |

Not mad, at all. I think Kane has had a helluva few months.
If I'm a betting man, I'm betting the house it doesn't last before the next surgery or off ice issue |

He will be 26/27 at the time his contract is up. Way past the point of the "prove it deal" he will be looking to get paid long term. |

Not trying to be a jerk here but I bet the guy that runs the team has a pretty good idea of whether or not Kane would stay |

So they're going to let all their free agents walk for free I doubt it
Tim Murray always gets rid of expired contracts - GERBE!!!75PTS
they only have three pending ufa's of note--Kulikov, Franson and Gionta...
Gionta would re-sing in a heartbeat...and I believe Kulikov could get a contract extension at the end of the year...
that leaves franson |

The Sabres can barely score either on most nights and Eichel needs wingers to play with not Foligno long term, that just stifles our greatest asset, and that is dumb. Get a D but do it with other assets, not wingers which we are light on as well. |

To be honest, I was surprised he got that type of contract.
I guess it was due to his 30 goal season. |

He will never score the way Kane scores in the NHL,
-you don't know that. Bailey does have 20+ potential
he won't be one of the best if not the best forecheckers in the league,
-Why couldn't Bailey be a good forchecker? He has the size & speed
he won't kill penalties,
-is Kane good at that? Our PK sucks
take faceoffs
-are u really using Kane's 45.1% as a plus? That stinks
and play at Kanes intensity even when Kane signs his next deal.
-so far, it certainly does look like that's exactly how Bailey plays
Kane is always on.
-I like Kane... but you're reaching on a lot of these points
ESPECIALLY faceoffs & pk
Bailey IS Kane, except we don't know if he'll ever be a scorer in the NHL
Which is a HUGE point
I'll give U that
But u also left out the negatives about Kane
And you're really exaggerating how good Kane is
Again...
I don't wanna trade Kane
But we are gonna have to give, to get
And also...
what do u have to back up all those things about Bailey?
From what we've seen of him (at EVERY level),
Seems to me that the only thing u can question is possible scoring
But he's also only played like 15 NHL games
So let's not be too quick to make a final judgment |

We all have our own opinions but this team can't score and has a bad D. The top 5 on 5 goal scorer in the NHL was Evander Kane since he scored his 1st goal in early December. That really irks certain people on this blog, the "ten game" crowd - GilPerreault11
We CAN score
Top10 in the NHL since Jack came back

Kane won't get 7 million. Okposo received 6, and has a better resume. Kane will most likely get a 3 to 4 year deal between 5 and 5.5. - Mentalorgasm5
I think we could all live with that...
at least most of us could |
