Ovechkin's streak of games with a shot ended last night, 45 games short of Ray Bourque's record.

Really interesting read on how difficult (and impressive) that streak was:

I like that hit and a few more over the last couple of games. The kid is learning what he is and how to use his strength. This is only his 70 th game approx.

I don't really care if he fights all the time but I do want other teams to be afraid. Sometimes it just takes one fight to get the respect that you don't need to fight no more.

Chara uses that style. Do you really want to fight me? Seriously ? Oh Okay.

Reputation goes a long way.

Buttons called Boeser the other day The Best player in the world not playing in the NHL. He does have a hard on for him

I really dont think he will be a fighter, he seems like he has a very calm personality (even when he fought he looked really reluctant to). He does stand up for himself though and is physical as necessary.

Super weird opinion here, but as he gets more comfortable with NHL speed, better conditioned, and stronger I could see him be like Tanev and get under 20 PIMs per year. He just gives me that vibe that he really sticks within the rules

I like our D. Aside from Edler we forget how young these guys are and also some talent like Briseboise and OJ coming up later.

We still don't know what we have in Hutton and Gudbrandson but like Sbisa I am sure in 3 years they will be much better.

Dear god, the last thing this fan base needs is to be doing is hyping up our prospects excessively.

I hope Boeser becomes a super star but expect something more along the lines of a JVR, which is still a very useful player.

He is struggling big time at the moment...but so is the entire team.

I just notice when he takes penalties they are mostly accidents, not from too much aggression. And the look on his face just seems really innoncent like a kid that feels bad about getting penalties. Big friendly giant, not an angry one

I'm not worried about him struggling, I'm worried about this fan base thinking BB is the best prospect not in the NHL and expecting him to come into the league like Gaudreau or something.

I get what you are saying, I can't remember which game but he took a penalty recently and was clearly pissed at himself.

He needs to get faster and stronger. I think 12-15 goals next year is a reasonable goal. He isn't explosive enough yet.

I get your point but I don't see him having that type of a career. He does have a bit of a temper and he is huge. His sheer size alone will ensure he gets over 50 pims as he will inevitably rag doll more opponents in front of the net when he gains confidence. It's not that he isn't violent its more that he is scared of penalizing the team and getting in trouble.

I see the NHL neutralizing any aggressive tendencies he may develop by giving him BS suspensions for any marginal infraction. Just like they did with Edler when he hit Hertl and Smith.

Yeah Tanev might be a bad comparison for PIMs, but I just cant see him being too much higher than 30. He isnt overly aggressive, Chara in his prime actively tried to intimidate guys, I just cant see Tryamkin be like that. Not for a few seasons anyway. I do agree that he is scared of penalizing the team, but I think that has more to do with his style and hurting the team than being benched

The bold is kinda my point though is that if he manhandles someone, it would be an accident. Like tossing Jenner in the fashion he did, stood his ground and pushed but really didnt try to send him flying. Nor does he keep coming after guys, even in scrums he's always the peacemaker

I look at Buttons the same way as McGuire . The guy is paid by a Vancouver radio station to talk about Canucks and every time he does he gives us a verbal BJ

I've seen that as well. Hard to comment on it because I have no idea who his opponent was. Could have been Cam Barker for all I know
- CanuckDon

ya I dont know either. I do know he held him at arms length which meant the guy couldnt even reach him then started smashing with the other hand. Awesome advantage.

boy last night he threw jenner like he was a child ...sent a strong message for sure
