He may have no choice but to become more aggressive over time as guys like Jenner try to use him to make their mark. As he gets more experienced and comfortable in the league, he's also likely to lose patience faster when guys take liberties on teammates or start scrums in front of his net.

russian leagues traditionally dont see much rough play, they are more speed and skill only. Its why they used to have so much trouble with teamm canada back a ways.

however, with all the media conglomeration, it's unclear. they used to pay guys (bobby mac types) about $100 per hit. not bad if you're doing a few across the country every week (as a supplemental little beer fund). however, with bell/rogers dividing up the media including radio stations across the country, i could see them putting in radio hits as part of the person's contract.

the other point i'd make is that vantel is most likely right. while button likes the kid, i'm pretty sure that he massages canucks' topics when he's on 1040.
