I'm not sure what the issue is, but our PK is just plain AWFUL. Which sucks because the PP is actually good this year. If they could actually manage to get both of those clicking at the same time, we'd probably be able to pick up a few more wins here and there. - HonkFortheGoose
last year was better with mike weber in the mix |

I didnt realize how bad Corey Perry has been.
10 points in his last 25 games (Outside of Buffalo of of course,)
only 11 goals this year. - ImThatGuy

Speaking of players that have had a rough year, apparently Joe Thornton just got his first goal of the year this week that wasn't an empty netter. Apparently going into the game against us this past week he had 3 goals, all of which he got with the goalie on the bench. |

Risto and Grant should not be on the PK.
I dont understand why they dont try reinhart there, even on the 2nd unit. - Sabresfan-365

I think lehner played it well at first. Got burrows to give the first tap which the ref called. - Sabresfan-365
I think you guys got real lucky to only get a single pp out of it. D man should have been tossed for third man in. Charging across the ice dropping gloves throwing several punches and only gets 2 mins. Plus Lehners slashes and blocker punch? Dam lucky |

I think that is why Lehner was so vocal. I think he was mad at himself for getting caught up in the Burrows thing and then he sees his team not responding and doing their own thing instead of playing the system.
I think that's why Lehner went and called out his teammate. |

the sooner they stop pretending like he's some defensive juggernaut the better.
Edit: I still think he's great...and a top pairing guy. But his strengths are on the other side of the ice. |

I agree. If it was a 2nd for Lehner, Colorado would have gotten the 1st. - Mentalorgasm5
But if the Avs got a 1st instead of a 2nd,
Most likely one of the other pieces would've been lesser
For example:
Instead of Compher, maybe we only would've had to give Hurley, or a 3rd? |

Would be nice if we had a defeneman that could make an outlet pass.
Oh wait, we did. We traded him for a guy that's been hurt for more than half the year and has a box of rocks for brains. But he plays physical so he must be better.

Agreed.

Not saying he would be the savior or anything, but damn. Our transition game is pretty terrible. I'd have to think he'd be a help in that respect. |

Does the eye test not give you this impression as well? stats or not hes obviously getting way too many minutes and eye test and basic stats would tell you he tends to do better in the o-zone. |

Not necessarily. They may have just had a slightly higher asking price knowing that the 1st was an option. Since it wasn't, because Murray had already moved it, it's not like they were trying to compensate for Murray not wanting to give it up. |

If this was mid-November, I'd say you were crazy. But I've noticed lately that he's struggling a lot. I'm pretty sure the amount of minutes they've played him already this year has definitely caught up with him.
Even trying other guys out on the PK would be helpful in that his ice time would probably come down a bit. Might help out in other aspects of the game, even if it doesn't make a difference on the PK overall. |

Minnesota has to trade a Dman in the offseaon due to the expansion draft. Would anyone do Nick Baptiste, 2017 Minnesota's 2nd round pick, and 2018 2nd round pick for LHD Jonas Brodin? |

you give him 23 mins instead of 27 and change the percentage of where he receives the most zone starts (currently defensive by large margin) and who knows you might get 82 very good games out of him (82 is an exaggeration of course but definitely more than now) |

he's getting worn down a bit, agreed...but he's not the reason this team's pk has gone from 9th last season to 29th this year...plus, he's on a similar point's pace this year as last yet he's a plus-17 year-over-year in the plus/minus column on a team who's goals-against average is worse than it was last season |

Its starting to feel a lot like the generalizations with bogo. size+hitting=defence no longer exists in the nhl. Best d-men in the game are "soft" guys like Lindholm and Tanev.
Go get us a softy TM |

I think there's a lot of things that could be changed that would help overall. The problem is that our depth is so bad it's why we're in this predicament in the first place. He's had 0 consistency in who his partner is, which I'm sure isn't super helpful, he plays too many minutes because the majority of the rest of our D sucks. The coach doesn't seem to understand that playing a chip and chase style game isn't really what this team is built to do, but he's trying to compensate for the fact that the transition game sucks because the D group he has is terrible.
I'm seeing a common theme here... |
