Yeah he's playing well. I severely doubt after 7 years in the league he found Jesus and decided he was going to play smarter and shoot less. He is what he is. A solid player that's totally replaceable if they can land a D man for him. - sbroads24

I was beating that drum as well - homiedclown
Yeah... Barbashev clearly had the offensive talent
I wonder if we'd picked him whether or not the AVs would've wanted him or another prospect in his place
Teams had clearly soured on him for him to drop like that
I still say the place we really Fd up in that draft though,
Was later in that 2nd round when we chose
Cornel & (especially) Karabacek
When we could've taken McKeown, Dougherty &/or Montour
Especially since, at the time (and still), we had lots of forward prospects & were light at defensemen
Would love to ask Murray wtf he was thinking?! |

He's also shooting less. He's not taking those "gain the zone, fire it on net" shots anymore, at least not nearly as much. Also, when was the last time he took a shot and it ended up behind the Sabres net? I can't remember as opposed to at least twice a game last year. I think coaching is finally getting to him. "More is not always better." It's not like he's shooting 25% either. He's still shooting lower than most "scorers". - Wetbandit1
I see u beat me to it...
Pretty much had the same take
11.6 isn't some outrageous percentage though
He's taking less shots this year than he has in the past
And it seems like he isn't taking wild shots where he's missing the net nearly as much as he had in the past
I don't watch all the games super close,
But it seems like his shot selection has been smarter
And that could be a big reason for the shooting percentage going up
Also,
For as good as his shot is...
the past few seasons of his shooting percentage were disappointing
I think he should be around 10%
That would put him at 15.5 goals for this season
And on pace for 28 goals over an 82 game season
That seams about right to me

How much did they pay these girls to pretend they know who the Sabres are? |

Ugh...
I know some ppl were liking him before this year
Pretty sure Kris Baker liked what he'd seen last year
But he's stuck in the ECHL right now,
and is -14 in 22games down there
He's still young enough that he's got a chance to make it to the NHL
But at this point,
I'd include him in any deal if another team wanted him
I think the only legit defenseman prospects we have right now are
Guhle
Maybe Borgen & Fitzgerald

Yeah I figured
Just a bummer that he went from a guy some had hope for before this year to a guy that's stinking up the ECHL
It's a small sample size so far...
but I don't like how Murray evaluates defensemen
Trading McNabb & those draft picks he missed on at the top of my reasons |

Yes, but all of the analytics say he is a top 20 player in the NHL. - Mentalorgasm5
No, they ALL don't at all. But then again you think Corsi is one team Stat so. |

Sharks dominated tonight...
but made so many stupid mistakes in their own end that Florida scored 6 goals on only 22 shots
Would've been nice for us if San Jose didn't freaking blow it |

Probably just a couple of hits of China White. They see like classy girls, they wouldn't (frank) around with that Black Tar bullpoop from Mexico or Afghanistan. |

So Boston is on pace to finish in the last playoff spot with 91pts
We have 25games left
For us to finish with 91pts, we'd have to go
15-7-3
I'd say that's actually possible
Pretty likely that we just barely miss though |

Not a Murray type guy. hes small, regardless of skill so i don't think murray would even target him.
I am all for any type of d prospects we can get back in trades. |

worth sending those two? absolutely, next kris letang i dont think so. Great skating, passing and offensive iq but his d game is....flawed we'll say and before the draft outside of his lack of size one of the knocks on his game was his shot.
I dont know if its since improved but it sounds like he projects to be a great skating puck moving pass first d-man (which we could obviously use) but im sure a lot of teams would be hesitant to bet on a 5'9 guy.
You could wind up with a Torey Krug or Ryan Ellis but lots of guys in juniors with that skill set that can't overcome the size. |

you'd hope he'd be a little more flexible with that given the state of the defence. |

He moved out a guy that wasn't small, played a smart game, but didn't play a physical game for a guy that's big, dumb, and plays physical. We've all seen how well that's worked out this year. |
