Let's take a quick objective look, shall we?
Foligno gets $2.25 MIL this year. He has 16 points...
Other forwards who have 16 points:
Artturi Lehkonen - $0.667 MIL
Alex Chiasson (actually 15 points) - $0.800 MIL
Scott Wilson - $0.590 MIL
Shane Prince - $0.800 MIL
Brandon Pirri - $1.100 MIL
Without Foligno's number in there, 16 points is averaging $0.79 MIL among these forwards...
Tell me if he is earning his keep... |

His speed is serviceable. he's a third of a ppg player who is third in the league in hits. He's exactly the kind of guy you need in the playoffs. Guys like him and Mike Grier excel in playoff type hockey - jcragcrumple
Should he ever be on a line with a guy like Eichel? Probably not. Does he have a role that he plays that is useful to teams? Yes.
I've had 0 issues with Foligno's game this year. He's stood up for his teammates, has chipped in some goals, and has played a physical game all season. This is exactly the type of player I was hoping he'd be when we drafted him.

Why is this such a surprise? What evidence is there that he is a good hockey player? He's getting $2.25 MIL per year to do what? - samike007
He is a good 3/4 line player. He will probably end up with 12-15 goals and close to 25 points. He hits, fights and always gives 100%. Not sure what you are expecting from the guy, but I would hate to lose him. |

LOL WUT? Speed? Does he use that speed to get to his point to prevent shots from the opponent's Dmen?
Nope.
Does he get back and hustle?
Nope.
Ohhhhh, you must have been referring to that speed he used when getting off the ice during the Canucks game that caused a too many men penalty, right?
Nope.
Come on. |

Gives 100%?????? Where? As he doesn't cover his assignments or as he fumbles passes that hit him on the tape? Or is it when he loses puck battles in the corners?
Seriously... let your love for a "cool" guy down and realize objectively he is awful. |

Yeah, I don't know what to tell you. I don't think of him as a slow player ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Patrick Sharp: 5 million
Cal Clutterbuck: 2.75 million
Jamie McGinn: 3.3 million
Jarome Iginla: 5.3 million
You can play that game with anyone...all of the above have less points than Foligno...
Assigning blame solely on that, to someone with so "low" of an NHL salary, is just griping for the sake of it.
He's no star, and as Goose said and I had posted while it was happening - Foligno anywhere above the 3rd line is a horrible choice, but he's nowhere near a problem on this roster and would be welcome on many solid teams across the league. |

Plays the PK too. Sure, they suck this season, but this year is pretty off in that aspect compared to normal I believe. |

Do you guys not watch his game? Do you not watch as passes fall off his stick? When he is chasing down a puck, doesn't it hit you that, "ok, no, he won't get it?"
I mean, poop, I've missed 2 total Sabres games this year, and it seems like my Facebook wall is nothing but, "my God, another horrendous play by Foligno." |

I'm not sure you know what cherry picking is... I didn't pick starts like Iginla and Sharp because:
1. They're actual stars in an off year
2. Their TOTAL pay per year is affected by a long-term contract.
E.g. Not comparable |

No you chose players who fit your agenda and excluded probably about 20-30 who make more than Foligno at similar production, but please contine to make you "Point" |

I hate to say it, but one of the best things that happened to the Sabres was a non-producer, Johan Larsson going down.
Foligno should be benched immediately... it would also have a positive effect. Leave the game for people who care and hustle (Bailey, Rodriquez).
And hell, Nic Deslauriers can take a seat, too. |

False... I gave why I excluded actual stars and long-contract players. Are you denying these facts? |

And Foligno is the #4 scorer on the team even strength.

No reason? I listed off the reasons I like him. You don't agree. Whatever. That's your choice. Has no impact on my day, so continue your hate for him. I'll lose 0 sleep over it. |
