And the PK seemed to get worse after he was waived, and delo does not bring what Grant does defensivly IMO. If you don't like him that's fine, but I don't see why he is such a whipping boy, dude plays on the fourth line, does it matter that he doesn't score? - Sabres1523
I'd like to be a better hockey team than a team that is ok with a scoreless 4th line center.

Since I think this got lost in the shuffle, I'm going to repost it...
Here's an interesting stat...
Lehner has faced 5 more shots over the course of this year than Bobrovsky has, yet has played in 6 fewer games. (1282-1277) He's also only allowed 1 more goal (97-96). However, he has 15 less wins.

Pretty crazy when you look at it that way. - HonkFortheGoose

I meant to reply, but work got in the way.
It's crazy how well he's playing, especially in this context. His GAA/Save percentage are up there or better than some well established goalies.

Just the win column is worse. Can be based on the forwards. Jack not being here for those bunch of games kept us in the basement ,while other teams climbed. Think we are 22nd now . Another win gets us in the teens.

I think this had quite a bit to do with it, as we weren't allowing a lot of goals, but were barely scoring 1 per game it seemed. Goalies don't get a lot of wins that way, but their stats don't look too bad otherwise.

Slightly old data now, since it's from 46 total games, but here's a tidbit from a big post I made (since it relates):
First 21 games, without Eichel
7-9-5
38 goals for (1.81 per game) 50 goals against (2.38 per game)
25 games since Eichel's return
12-9-4
71 goals for (2.84 per game)
73 goals against (2.92 per game)
I need to update this...maybe during the "bye week"

Plus the overall injuries on the team and the ineffectiveness of our defense did not help. He's been playing great, minus when he loses his mind and doesn't regain his composure.

How did Columbus become good overnight? - mattmoulson
Columbus the last few years has been kind of interesting, but a lot of their success really does depend on their goalie playing well.
Bobrovsky won a Vezina, got injured and missed time on and off quite a bit the next few years and finally looks to be back to his normal self this year.
I think this is a good example of the players having confidence in the guy who's back there. The goalie himself isn't actually any different, but the results have been very different.
