If this team trades Kane this season, GMTM is going to lose a cell phone. Just sayin'. - BeadyEyedDouche
Or he'd be a genius depending on what we got back, but I don't see it at the deadline |

I haven't seen the last two games but based on what I am reading, EROD has played well. How is his skating and speed? Even though he is a winger, would he be a better 4th line centre (once Girgs is back) vs Grant and/or COR? - SabreWest
Bailey and EROD have been very impressive. If you combined the two, you would have a stud: This is why.
Bailey has all the size, speed & moves in the world, but at this point lacks that scoring touch. He's young and it certainly can develop. If so lookout.
Erod has average size, good speed and a huge hockey IQ. Average skills but serious smarts.
I think these two are mainstays along will Carrier, who is a lot like Bailey in that he has to develop a scoring touch. Guhle is the 4th young kid who will make the team. Faeshing, I'm a little down on this year, though he'd make a big jump, but has regressed if anything. Nylander will probably get a look, but probably needs another year to mature (it took his brother 2 years to make it too). Peterson is the wildcard, I certainly hope we sign him.

Standings put Murray in a tough spot. Is he a buyer or seller? Buyer not ideal since we know rentals won't help long term. Seller and it looks like he didn't have faith in the team but helps us long term. Standing pat would be just stupid. |

E-rod played a couple last season and seemed unimpressive. Same as the rest of the team.
But he did get a goal and a assist in those 2 games he played last season .

disagree - he was the Sabres' best player in the final game of the season. Granted the game was meaningless. |

Honestly, how much worse are we without Kulikov or Franson? |

I would hope we'd trade Kulikov, Franson, and Gionta. We could resign Gionta in the offseason (Moulsen like), if we really wanted him back. I would also trade Gorges, if there's a taker, but that would leave the Dline very thin. Not trading any of the significant players (Kane, Foligno, etc) unless we get a serious defenseman back. |

I would be happy with trading Kulikov and Franson and then making a low risk/high reward trade for Derrick Pouliot. Or maybe bring him back in one of the Kuli/Franson trades |

I have thought about Franson for Poliout before.
Or even Baptiste for Poliout. Pens always love those cheap, speedy wingers |

most likely response for trading Kane: I'm not going to kick a gift horse in the mouth. I'm accepting this trade before you change your mind. |

From the last blog
(and for anyone else who keeps saying "play the kids")
"Sorry so late getting back to this....fell asleep early.
My point was that our coach would play old, slow, inneffective veterans over fast (yet green) rookies even though the rookies don't really look out of place. it bothers me because we're a slow team in a fast league.
Bbas could certainly pluck some AHL vets from the Marlies instead of playing his rookies.
Someone posted "yeah, and TO only has one more win than us"...but they have a positive goal-differential, have games in hand, and are fun to watch (even when they lose, the scores are 5-3). If we're gonna be the f'ing Devils it'd be nice to be near the top of our division...otherwise I'll trade fast, fun hockey and still be a fringe team like we are now, except now we are dull."
- LandlordTom
Well we just look at it from a totally different perspective
I care MUCH more about us being GOOD As opposed to "fun to watch"
Look at all the young guys who've come up this year...
are they "PRODUCING" or are they just "fun to watch"?
PLAYER
Carrier. 35games, 4-2-6pts
Bailey. 17games, 2-1-3pts
Baptiste. 12games, 2-0-2pts
Rodrigues. 6games, 0-2-2pts
Schneider. 4games, 0-1-1pts
Fasching. 6games, 0-0-0pts
TOTALS. 80games, 8-6-14pts
So first,
These guys are NOT significantly producing
Second,
A guy like Moulson for example, has more goals than ALL of them combine
Third,
It's better for these young guys to DEVELOP their game in the AHL than just skate around fast & be fun to watch up here
Bringing guys up when they "don't look out of place" is NOT the same thing as bringing them up when they are READY and can contribute
Finally...
the correct way to handle the young guys is what's best for their development,
NOT what's most fun for u to watch
Because that's what's best for the long term,
So we can be GOOD for years...
That should be the plan IMO |

Carrier, Fasching are the two guys who stand out most as not being NHL ready.
But I think in the case of Rodriguez and Bailey, there's not much more playing in the AHL can do for them. Larsson shouldn't be here next year, IMO. Time to move on. He's a 10g, 10a 30pt at most player who's slower than slow and has no awareness.
I'd bring back Girgs, though. I still have high hopes for him, I think he can be a great depth player going forward. Foligno, gone.
Next year, Bailey, Rod, Baptiste full-time. Asplund might make the team out of camp and Nylander should be the one developing in the A.
Carrier has such a punchable face. That might be why I don't like him but no thanks on him going forward. Career AHL'er. |

Carrier may be taken by expansion, but he's a tweener...either a great AHLer or a 4th line NHLer. I wouldn't mind his speed on the bottom line. I'm surprised though about Foligno...we need some heavies...he's like 3rd in the league in hits...who fills that role? (Bailey/Baptiste/E-Rod aren't hitting anyone)

Bailey is done developing imo. It's time for him to stay. Speed, size, toughness and agility are all NHL caliber. Scoring touch isnt quite there but he's done it at the AHL level so he can do it. Even if this is his ceiling (which I doubt), he's a really good fourth liner now
