I know right. Yet still 50th in scoring.
The more I look at previous drafts, even I over stepped my love for the draft. Increases my love for JB drafting ability. - manvanfan
I think everyone, including me, overstates Bennings ability to draft. He's put one player thru the draft in our current lineup, three years, and, he's passed on some players that are having some success at the NHL level.
When/if more kids make it, and make an impact at the NHL level, then I'll give him his due credit. |

I still fail to see how Bennett is even relevant in a conversation that Edmonton was lucky Buffalo passed on Draisaitl at number two and he fell to them at number three?? - LeftCoaster
Prospect rankings at the time had Draisaitl further down.
Oilers were smart to pick him. Buffalo saw Reinhart over Bennett. |

We may be overstating JB drafting skill but idc about other players picked by other teams who r not in the PO's nor cup contenders. Any player that slides & does well was passed by more teams than just us. All that matters to me is picks take teams to another level & so far very few have done that. Recently McDavid Draisaitl have done that. Others eg MacKinnon Droiun etc have not done so. |

If you can get one player per draft be more then a 4th liner, probably a win. 210 players drafted a year and JB gets 7 picks. Usually means 20 other GMs have failed also. |

That's just a complete cop out! When you've picked 5th & 6th overall you sure as (frank) better have a better person in charge than simply hoping for a 4th liner. Jeezuz! |

You're basing this all on JV's struggles? Does Mcann count?
Guess next season we will know more. Like you said drafting and developing takes time. BB, OJ, JV on deck. Guadette....? Brisbois...? All gamers but where will they be at given what team has open. |

That's not a cop out. How many people do you think play a game in the NHL from every draft year? People fail with picking 1OA, it happens to every team. You need to relax. |

He forgot about Tryamkin and Forsling. 4 guys from one draft year have played in the NHL. |

I'm basing my reaction on picking high two out of three drafts. Benning had a better opportunity than 25 and 24 other teams to pick the best kids in the world. I don't know if kids like Boeser, Demko, Juolevi etc. will be good nhlers, but I damn well hope so.
Not enough time has gone by to say definitively that he's a good drafter. |

I agree with that. 23 other teams passed on Pastrnak.
100 picks were passed by Viktor Arvidsson
160 players picked before but are worse then Kevin LeBlanc.
See what i'm saying? Drafting 1OA or 175OA it's tough. |

All we can wish for is prospects make us a much more competitive team & not be wasted like many teams do. Our prospect pool is better than we have ever known.
JB has done fine so far but how they do in the NHL we will have to wait n see. |

Nor enough time to say he is not. JV is hardly a bust at 20. As for other draftees they look to be legit good picks. To date no GM in Canuck history has drafted better. Other than Quinn picking Bure when he found the 20th game that is. |

Currently Colorado is -76 in Goal Differential.
Worst 2 I found over the past years was Buffalo at -113 and someone else same year at -102.
Colorado going to get that low? |

What?? He's drafted three times lol.
Burke drafted two 1000 point players, Kesler, Bieksa, Rutuu, Allen, Umberger and Jason frickin King
And further to that, Nonis said himself when was hired in 2004 he didn't have any time to prep for the 2004 draft so he stuck with his buddy Burke's list, which means you can credit Burke with Schneider, Hansen, Edler and Brown. |

Not saying JV is a bust but he better figure out how to play professional hockey. Drafting 18 year old can be a crap shoot, some dominated in junior only to find out there's lots of players with just as much talent It's the ones that learn what it takes to be a professional that succeed. |
