And what is crazy about that is we didn't have Eichel for the first 21 games and Kane has missed 12.
- mhp

2 more wins. That's all they needed in those games when Kane and Eichel were out. Then we would be talking about if they could catch Montreal.

Beat the Hawks! Make us fans believe in them fully. Make it happen. Don't let those loses to Carolina and Boston haunt us.

Now the blue line needs help for sure, but I am not moving Kane or Reinhart. Sorry just not doing it unless it's for OEL or Burns.

If Kane wants to stay here for sure and can stay out of trouble I have zero problem moving Nylander Girgensons and this years 1st for a defenseman. Especially if Bailey stays and Baptiste builds off of this strong game.

Can you imagine a team of Bailey Baptiste Eichel ROR Okposo Kane in the top 6?? That's sooooo much speed and skill

Then have Reinhart center the 3rd line, and Asplund center the 4th?

Seriously this blue line needs help but I think Murrays vision is starting to show what it can do.

If they could win tomorrow before the break and then win both games in Arizona and Colorado before the TDL it sets them up to possibly be buyers at the deadline. Poach a player from either AZ, COL or NJ some team like that or make a trade with Minnesota. Murray and Fletcher have a good relationship so who knows. They could end up being both sellers (Franson, Kuli, Nilssson) and buyers, maybe a little bit of both.

I would hate to push both Bailey and Baptiste into the top 6 so soon but speed kills. Bailey does look good with ROR and Okposo.

2-0 Sens

I like this.

With games remaining against Toronto they need to lose those games they have in hand so Buffalo can control their own fate.

I'd look at Carolina to make a deal with.

Arizona and Colorado have no blue line help that they would trade that interests me. OEL ain't going anywhere and Barrie is hard to figure out.

One thing I will say, a week ago people were doubting whether Bailey and Baptiste could make it as top 9 guys. Now they have a few good games and they're top 6 caliber players.

Also if Bailey and Baptiste can be legit top 6 guys that's all the more reason to move Kane while his value is high to fill a hole.

Not totally directed at you, just a thought that crossed my mind

Carolina is in quite the position of strength, though. I'm not sure what the Sabres have that would interest them outside of Eichel (not happening), Kane possibly, or Reinhart. The Hurricanes need forward help, but they also aren't in a position where they absolutely have to unload someone yet. It's going to be tough, especially if you deem Reinhart as an untouchable.

Kane or Nylander for Faulk

edit: I think Nylander fits their timing better, but I'd really rather hold onto him

My dog is a beagle. Not sure what the other one is. It sees any other dog and it straight up wants to rip it apart

A bunch said they need to be up here. I wanted Bailey up at the start of the season. Thought he still needed time a month ago. The youngins are doing real well.

That's the thing. If you really want one of their defensemen that make a difference, you are going to have to give up somebody up front that is good or projects to be good. If they see enough value in Kane to trade him for Justin Faulk, I do it in a second. I could probably be talked into Reinhart or Nylander, but I would be hesitant.

I also imagine a trade for Kane would need reasonable assurances of an extension from his camp.

People in Toronto have thought that the Leafs are good and have thought so all year. Just saw a CBC reporter use that word describing them. The Sabres are currently one point behind them and have NEVER been referred to as good by any media outlet or fans and they've had more games lost to injury than most teams. Are Leafs good just like they tanked with dignity?

The only way these kids get the "time" they need is to play up in those roles and learn the NHL game. Bailey will most likely struggle again, and that's fine. Just keep him where he is at and let him work through it.

It's tough. I don't know if they have a defenseman worth Reinhart

There is still a lot of hockey left to be played. The Leafs are struggling, and the Sabres are on a hot streak right now. With the way this league is, and the way the standings are bunched up, that could be a complete 180 in two weeks. I'm not making any declarations about either team one way or the other.

There's still a strong possibility that neither team makes the playoffs.

That's tough, just stick with the walks, or go to Ellicott Creek park that's 2 minutes away and hang out there for a while, just don't go in the bathrooms after dark. Or do, I'm not judging...

Maybe not a hot streak. Maybe it's finally coming together. We all knew it would take time . Well some of us thought that way. baby team ... The consistency thing needed to be addressed. Maybe still.

I'm not making any declarations either but it seems some media there are free with with accolades at times with the team overall and tough on the individual players. My point is I'm not sure if the Leafs or Sabres are "good" yet.
