Point being that, everyone's opinions/expectations concerning Gaudette right now, have likely nowhere to go but down.
Same as the Cassels hype. - Whiskey-Tango
Well that's an incredibly negative outlook |

I do think the Canucks stink .
But at least I am not all star struck over the Jets Flames and Leafs like you.
And I sure as hell am not saying if Benning doesn't start doing better I am going to pull a Nucker like you.
Your whining about Canucks is hitting Tambir and Raj heights - VANTEL
But the Canucks are an old team, not a young one? The teams you mentioned above don't stink, well maybe Calgary lol, but they certainly have room for improvement. The difference is their core's are primarily made up of young players, the Canucks isn't.
Therein lies the difference, but you can't see past your nose, you think you have a bunch of 18, 19 & 20-year-olds who can't make the playoffs they're a right-off, which is preposterous!
Youth excites me, it gives me hope, they have it, we don't. |

I wouldn't mind seeing Boeser with the twins in March. he is strong on the boards and has a great shot. I think a season and a bit with them could bring him into the league nicely. This is not penciling him in for 1st line duties. Though they usually get the most ice time I see the twins as a 2/3 and Bo as our 1 |

When our prospect depth is so dismal that a 5th round pick becomes one of our top 5 future's, that tends to happen. |

I suspect we would if one of those players played on our team - LeftCoaster
Right? I am following the rookie TOI/GP race, Stecher is currently sitting 7th. Need a big push from him at the end to take home the title |

It's going to take a few years before we have a new young core? Can you be patient? |

Miller is a free agent and getting old. Seems like the Canucks like making a splash every year in the offseason. I could see them liking Bishop - PhillySportsGuy
If they are going to sign a stop gap goalie free agent for a season or two, why would they take one that can't keep up with Miller on a better team than the Canucks? That would be more of a flush than a splash.

Aren't we ranked 15th 0r 16th in the league? so average. Also, what Gaudette is accomplishing this year has him tracking like a 1st round pick not a 5th. He may bust...or he may not |

You don't think I know they are old?
Christ there has been no one on here screaming more for the last 6 years to move those two 7 million dollar boat anchors and Edler.
I said Two years ago get rid of Burrows and Higgins.
We are paying the price now because of loyalty. I have been beating the drum for years that it would bite us in the ass and now it is.
You will see a much better team aafter next year. We won't be as slow and we won't hopefully be playing a soft game.
Dorsett and Gudbranson along with Tryamkin should give us a bit of grit.
Calgary Winnipeg and Toronto last week were all withing 3 points of us so yes they still stink . We have beaten every one of those teams as much or more than they have beaten us this year. |

It's not a negative outlook, it's a constructive outlook, the difference in here is the pillow-biters think everything is negative when you're just trying to be realistic. |

Hard to say if there is nowhere but down. I think he is a late bloomer, and given his performances as a 19 & 20 year old in NCAA, he has fared much better than 20 year old Cassels in the OHL.
I dont think many see him more than a 3rd liner, though the excited ones may think 2nd line C, I think the real exciting part is he is showing good potential for being an NHL player (possibly a good 4C?) despite being a 5th round pick. |

Yes, if things go well he could be a 3rd line center. He is still a kid that is tracking really well. That is all. |

See, you still can't see it lol. Their best players are all youthful, ours are old, except Horvat. They're trending up, we're still trending down, that's the part you can't see for whatever reason.
They're in an enviable position because they're already better than us with teenagers....that's the part that excites me. That's where I want Benning to go! |

I'd like to see him play top 6 in Utica before we decide where he will project to. Selfishly I'd like that to be next year because I am slightly impatient, but I can wait a couple years if I had to. Pretty sure only one poster has been penciling him into NHL lineups, the rest of us are just pleased at his progression |
