I don't think there's anything new to process right now, except that it sounds like Burrows will be open to moving if the team can set up a situation that works for all parties.
The Canucks aren't going to be one of the teams that starts the trade-ball rolling, so we may as well wait to see who makes the first move and what trade values look like in this strange year.
With the expansion draft and the jammed-up standings, I don't think we're going to see many moves as straightforward as "Derek Roy for a second."
My honest expectation is that there will be very limited movement all around the league at this deadline. - Carol Schram

Sure and maybe that's the high end of his value to Habs. Though two other things factor in perhaps. Like lack of Sellers. Lack of Burr type players being available where many buyers have interest. Values drive up.
Also, JB's assessments for this draft seem to deem 1-20 equal and 20-50 the next grouping. With 50-80 the same quality. So you are right about it being about draft position. Seems the rounds are even more skewed this draft. - Nuck4U
I dont think it has anything to do with JB's assessment, its just being realistic where the draft position is and how muddled rankings get beyond the first 20.
Acquiring a 1st round pick sounds more exciting than a second but if you're getting the 29th overall pick vs 35th, its not a major difference. It becomes less the further you get into the draft |

Well said. It seems to be where things are headed. Just wonder who's pulling the trigger though. |

It would be so nice if the twins waived their NMC and were traded by next Wednesday. I say take the hit and offer the twins up and pay half their salary for next year. I can't watch anymore half assed forchecking and weak offensive plays anymore. |

Boeser and Pastrnak though - Codes1087
Was reading back to the predraft rankings. Button had Boeser 9th, while some didnt have him in the top 30, general consensus was between 22-26 though which proves my point on muddled. Everyone usually knows within a few spots where the first 10 go, but the odds get tougher to predict beyond that |

Anything beyond the top 5 is muddled IMO. Look back at the 3 draft picks that Boston took in a row a couple years ago. Or Dal Colle. Virtanen. The list goes on and on of players taken in the top 20 who have yet to make an impact. Not to say they all can't be impact players one day, just saying that I think the consensus amongst scouts are generally the same in the top 5, after that, its anyone's guess. |

Its a given WD is getting max effort & no quit out of everyone.
Its good for JB to further assess his roster & decide on moves.
It also says how much we lack skill.
With some prospects ready next year or 2018 its not all gloomy.
So any deals we make should be for good prospects who r closer to being ready & i see that being a LW. C would be preferable but hardest to pull off. If its for picks its cuz of the expansion draft & not in JB's control. So we can expect the usual hysteria fallout to come after the TDL. Fire this guy trade that guy will be at a theatre near u soon. |

quality article from Ryan Biech. He is a great poster. While I don't want to jump on board with burning a year of an ELC with Gaudette and Boeser, he lays out the scenario for the Canucks
http://canucksarmy.com/20...-boeser-before-season-end - Codes1087
Yeah it's possible if their seasons end in time that BB and Gaudette get signed to burn a year. Might be something to gift fan base at end to build excitement factor for next season.
Though I thought JB was keeping contract options open to sign NCAA free agents when window opens. Maybe find another Stecher. Plus stock up Canucks minor league teams and develop from there any potential gems. At very least raise level of talent for all prospect development. |

Willie doesn't need to be a playoff coach... Canucks will never be in the playoffs with him at the helm again - Bullfrog77
Thats a harsh assessment when he has had less talent to work with.
We won't know til holes r filled if he is still around.
I'm not a WD fan yet just being honest. He prolly doesn't get a real honest shot at being a coach here when we do ice a much better roster. |

Getting Gaudette signed would be outstanding. Couple years in Utica and he could be a stud |

Montreal is a top team in the east no reason why they can't give up a 2nd. - SRam19
Habs have 2 late 2nds this year & 3 lates in the following draft. |

I know Benning said he thinks CBJ will give up the second round pick this year.
I agree about the little movement at TDL.
For the Canucks I can't see them playing Miller all this time and then just trading him and letting Markstrom finish the year cold with no support. Great move for tank nation but not a good move for a team trying to win.
I think Markstrom will be dealt in the off season . 9.6 Mill is too expensive for a goalie combo like that.
I think Benning might try to trade Subban or Pedan this off season for a mid to late round pick after the expansion draft.
It will be a busy year with Gudbrandson and Bo needing a new contract along with Tryamkin and Gaunce |
