Tanev for a 1st. Straightup, no salary exchange beyond this season. Do you take it? why or why not.

Not a chance. If you're dealing Tanev you're dealing him for a young forward with a ton of upside to a team that is desperate for D..... ie Toronto

Definition of homer trade aspirations, with the exception of Sbisa who I think might actually fetch more than a 3rd given his progression over the past two seasons and age. He's like Micheal Stone(who just went for a 3rd) except trending up instead of down. Not too sure, curious what others think of his value. I'd rather they hung onto him and traded the older players (tanev or Edler)

I think you missed the point of this post. Anyway, for example you think Tanev and Hansen value is less then a second rounder past the 60th slot? That anything more is a homer value? Is that what the experts are saying?

Such as?
- Marwood

Jordan Nolan 950k
ferland 825k
Reaves 1.25m
tootoo 750k
Maroon 1.5m

That's looking at about ten teams, many don't really have tough guys these days.

That's pretty open-ended statement, a 28th pick is a lot different than the 12th pick.

Ferland and Maroon? I would take them but they aren't available. A better comparison is Martin who has a similar contract. You need to compare UFA's. Dorsett is at least a strong skater who can contribute the occasional goal. He isn't a one-dimensional goon.

For tanev you put "prospect and top picks" (which I assume means more than 1 pick). Are you changing your position? If so, your question is incoherent. If not, your question is incoherent (as you are just misrepresenting what you put). I think we would be lucky to get a 2nd for hansen, your valuation lumps together 1st and 2nd round picks as if they are equitable some how, which they most definitely are not.

I have to disagree. This team gets slapped around nightly, hence my point about Stetcher getting pummeled by the goalie the other night as his teammates stand there gawking. There is never any kind of aggression or pushback when a teammate gets run or cheap-shotted. Dorsett was the only Canuck who brought fire most nights. Also, it sounds like he was playing with a significant injury for the last year or so.
- Marwood

I like Dorsett's fire and willingness, more importantly he is a pretty good hockey player when he doesn't get baited .

That said, his presence does not deter other teams from slapping this team around or make other teams worry about being hit Tryamkin has helped and Gudbranson should once he is extended..... but this team desperately needs someone who can make other teams worry about who is jumping over the boards.

at least you tried.

i posted a bunch of potential return options last season and they'd get shot down all the time...

It was meant more for speculation on a tear down. Not really on actual trade values. Though weird that a range of second round 60 is thought of too much for Tanev and Hansen. Or a 3rd to fourth rounder is too high for Burrows. I don't think they paid attention to the parameters. It was a gloss over and let's attack something that can be ridiculed at a glance. Shows the intent is not to explore but find ways to pounce.

Tanev, based on how much some ppl on this board think of him, should get at least a 1st, prospect and a top 6 player...

some think he's the Nux best dman...

A better comparison in terms of how poopty the contract is, I would agree is Martin. They are both overpaid and underskilled players, they both are huge defensive liabilities. should max out at 10 minutes per game. Yes, Ferland and Maroon. All of the players on that list I would take over Dorsett in a heartbeat and get paid considerably less.

I had ranges as the purpose was not to assign and compare definitive value. As qualified it's more of a look at to what the extent of a tear down at TDL would look like. How far it could go and what impact it could have. We can't know the actual market of TDL as that is yet to be determined.

Guddy would allow Edler to ignore the physical game, which would make him better IMO.

I'd take either, personally. The cap flexibility gives us options, we can retain Sbisa, and we get another first rounder to potentially be a great piece (such as a Cal foote or Nic hague). I realize tanev is worth more (sometimes a lot more) to some and just wanted to see.

For arguments sake lets say its to the isalnders and we get a pick in the 15-20 range.

Tootoo likely not being one, but there are a lot of players in the league that make less than Dorsett and can provide that same fire and willingness to be punched in the face.

Few of them have had as effective of seasons as Dorsett did in the past but that doesn't mean that Dorsett will ever play as well as he did in Clb.

I really hope Benning spends a few later round picks on some players with size who love to hit.
