Laine and Matthews both with 50 points now, last Canucks rookie to score 50 (not named Bure) was Trevor Linden. Gotta draft high to get those kids! |

And with the odds you get with 6/49, you need to spend a lot more then you'll ever win just to win. House always wins, which is why you can't rely on the lottery and you have to play the hand you're dealt. Unless you're the Oilers, in which case you get Katz to give Bettman and Daly a handjob and blowjob and win the lotto 4 out 6 times for 1OA including the McDavid sweepstakes. |

In the nhl your odds are obviously much higher, I'd suggest you can count on the lottery helping you. But that's my take. You can't JUST rely on the lottery, but you can use it as a tool to help rebuild. |

Kings win, flamers win and Nashville gets a loser point ! Fantastic night to continue adding pressure to the sell movement - Bullfrog77
You might be in for a let down. There is no real pressure to sell. Points at this stage don't make a difference to a TDL selling from their perspective. They know the reality. It's more about if there is a deal of value that can be done.
I tried to show a few pages back what a TDL tear down could look like. Really makes little difference to team development if they get a couple 2nd to fourth rounders from moving 4 or so players.
This draft will just add some potential upgrades which we could see in a few years. No impact players will be had to make the team. At best a couple of existing prospects like JV, BB or OJ are added to roster next season. |

A tool? Definitely, only a fool would think otherwise, but there's more to a rebuild then shiny new 18 year old wunderkinds. But yes, they definitely don't hurt and you need at least one to build around. |

I don't care what we get for the players....we need prospects not over aged over paid has beens . We can't even field a competitive farm team. The amount of time it's going to take to turn this train wreck around is hard to fathom really. Step one is drafting young talent....so we need picks...all good in my book |

Hes wrong, unless he has an extremely loose description for "impact" players. Every draft has impact players. This complete BS that "there's no impact players" is ridiculous. |

Exactly....ridiculous to prejudge 200 18 yrs old kids potential with such a statement. No impact players...horsepoop. been spoiled a few years in a row now of spectacular top end guys at the top of the draft. Now every draft from McDavid on out is a failure if 10a can't save you're doomed franchise? We have average prospects and and absolute wasteland of a farm team. The NHL team is half full of AHL players....and dam near the other half is worn out country clubbers riding off into the sunset with mega millions I there jeans. We need all the pics and prospects we can get...for the next 5 years really. Regardless of what the so called experts think of the draft class |

You just judged our prospects as average. From good draft classes. What makes any of the top 15 prospects in this draft any better?
As for needing more prospects. Yes that's true. But if you dismiss them as average what's the point of piling up more. |

I didn't say they were better...I said we need more regardless of how they are rated. How many of the top 15 of this draft class do you figure are an upgrade on Megma or chapoo? |

If true, why take the job if you're going to step down after a couple of yrs?
As much as the upper management has taken a beating, we don't need constant turnover in those positions. Don't need this team to go in different directions every couple yrs. - Kaynine
Because a owner who said they would not get involved in the day to day operations made a bold faced lie. |

Who in this draft are you going to build your team around? Upgrade on what Nucks have now sure that is there. But does any single player have the ability to make an impact from this draft for next season?
Plus my point on the post is that any trades at this TDL are not going to do much to make a real change for this team. So I'm just tempering the hysteria that's building up. Especially the JB didn't do enough poop show that's coming. He won't be able to do much.
Maybe offseason some big stuff goes down. But from a drafting stance best the Nucks can do is add some good pieces for future development. |
